Why would you care?

I've still got an i5 2500K from 2011, 3 years old next month, still runs everything brilliantly and have seen zero reason to upgrade. Breaking the pointless upgrade cycle for the sake of it was the best thing I did. Leaves you money to spend on better stuff than having more 3dmarks than a load of people you've never met :p

Why would I care ?, Probably because I'm posting on a PC enthusiast forum with people who love new hardware or I thought they did.

We still love new hardware but we don't sit and fret becuase the 2013 video card we bought has been replaced by a 2014 one. When it stops handling the games you want on the settings you want, upgrade, until then, stop caring? :p

No ones sitting and fretting at all, In future I'll remember never to ask the ocuk community a question and expect an answer that isn't filled with sarcasm and bile ;)

Personally I'm going to hold off on any "Newer" upgrades in 2014 and just get another 780 Ti for SLI and maybe another SSD for Raid 0 :)
Can't see Maxwell being world changing and the newer Intel Core i7 4790K wont exactly be a massive leap from a 4.65GHZ 4770K.

In the words of John McClain "technology peaked with frozen pizza"

Love it :D

Aww, come on. Look at the thread. So many people in this forum discuss how they miss a generation or two or three because the price to speed isn't worth the jump. Then you get a thread saying 2012/13 parts are outdated. Oh please.

So many people feel insecure because it's not the latest number/model. Same with the tablets and phones all because their pal has one newer.

I may of started the thread but I was just curious as to who is getting the newer hardware, And I highly doubt it has anything to do with feeling "insecure" lol unless your 10 years old and you want to keep up with your friends that's just moronic.
A lot of people especially here on an enthusiast forum like to have the latest tech.
And did you not notice the " :p " at the end of the thread title ?, That should have been a big clue ;)
Personally I'm skipping any and all newer tech until 2015, Want there to be a big leap not just "Yay, 5 fps"

You obviously haven't really observed this current generation in society.

True but thats for another day.

So many things have so many different meanings nowadays with so many people in how they see it. It's very hard to distinguish which is which since there is so much spin to protect their argument.

You sir need to go get drunk and cheer up :D

General Discussion section, majority of people just use these sections for a natter, and that sums it up. :p

Never see most of the posters in here post in the hardware section, where you are more than likely to see people with update rigs.

Ah well, No harm in a good chin wag, Or finger wag as we're typing :D

I do wish I could get rid of this upgrade bug though, It's getting to be very annoying, 1 minute I'm looking at my rig and I'm very content and happy with it and the next I'm thinking to myself "Well in a few months time all the new stuff is out and I'll have to buy a new case, Mobo, CPU, GPU, Different/Faster Ram" I know I don't have to buy anything at all but I think it's border line OCD and it's seriously starting to p*** me off.

Upgrades are forced upon me these days (AMD Trinity rig I built last year wasnt though, I sold my Phenom rig to pay for part of it, sisters youngest boy has now got that for Xmas), everytime little sister phones up & says she or her boys have a problem or they want a new one. Hopefully my planned Kaveri based rig for jan 2014 will be the last for a while. I'm surprised I've still got my SB based rig, I was happy with my C2D Wolfdale rig for over 2 years & then I got a call saying hers was too slow & wanted an upgrade.

Maybe stop giving your stuff away then and tell your sister to go buy a pc instead of robbing yours :p
