2014: Your year in gaming

I was thinking about my game of the year but I'm not sure anything really stands out. Stick of Truth was entertaining and I quite enjoyed Titanfall. Elite Dangerous is pretty cool and has potential but it feels a bit barebones at the moment and the multiplayer aspects are lacking.

Santa's bringing me Far Cry 4 tomorrow so if that's half as good as far cry 3 it might make the list.

If anything the game I've probably spent the most time playing this year is the PS4 release of The Last of Us but it feels like a cop-out putting forward a re-release for game of the year!

Seems to be a lot of love for Dragon Age : Inquisition so I think I'll maybe treat myself to that over the Xmas period aswell.

2014 was a bit meh TBH. There were good games out there but noting to really rave about which is disappointing given we've just seen some next-gen consoles released and I'd have expected to see more impressive titles coming out. Maybe next year!

Its a bit tricky really for me - I only play 3/4 games really on my PC

World of Warships CAT - Loving this so far, its fantastic and there is nothign like it out there I'm aware of - Even Navy Field 2 seems rubbish

World of Warplanes - Such a wast eof SSD space, but hey unified accounts and free stuff keeps me coming back for some reason

World of Tanks - Some really positive steps in the game its self, but the playerbase is really turning toxic it feels

War Thunder - Strangley enjoying just derping about in this, many thnaks to the OCUK War Thunder guys for putting up with my seemingly amazing abilty to crash into and onto everything possiable :)

Non PC - GTA 5, Enjoyed finishing it, but after that it feels well meh :(

Grand Turismo 5/6 - very samey so far it feels but hey I like them for the mods etc and the fun online racing brings

Next years - World of Warships Open Beta, Can't wait it feels like it could be so good!!!

Who knows

Haven't played many of the premium games released this year tbh, but my vote is Alien Isolation, probably the best game I've played in a long time.

I can't really remember everything I've played this year, but I'll try and dig out some of the more notable content...

GOTY : Fallout 3 + mods. Despite being my favourite genre, I've only ever played this once, and that was vanilla - around six years ago. Maybe I'm selecting since it's my most recent positive memory.

Honourable mention : Lost Alpha. I found it definitely got better the further I progressed through it, eventually resulting in a good, solid gaming experience. It took a bit of patience / diligence what with the patches / time taken. Quite a slow burner, but I'm glad I persevered.

Most disappointing : I'm really not sure what to put here, but maybe the first Thief game + mods. Although I initially sang some of its praises, I've since come to find the games in general to be not enough to my liking. I do like stealth in some games, but on reflection not as quite as much when it's as heavily weighted as that. I enjoyed the process of modding it though, but overall I found the shine wore off it pretty early on.

Ah Hell, might as well give it a punt.

GOTY: Elite: Dangerous

Honourable mentions: South Park: Stick of Truth, Titanfall, Last of Us: Remastered (PS4), Destiny, Valkyria Chronicles (PC)

Most Disappointing: Elder Scrolls Online

GOTY: Splinter Cell Blacklist

Really enjoyed the engrossing story, gameplay and voice acting.

Honourable mentions: Watchdogs, GRID2
