*** 2015/16 Post/Pre-season Friendly Thread ***

I think most United fans on here liked Rafael but that was partly because he was a bit of a character. Nutty in defence and great going forwards. He is just a bit too small for LvG I think. He would get beaten in the air all day against any half decent player over about 5'8"

Different position I know, but that's also the one "big" problem with Pedro, I believe he is only 5'5 or something similar (sorry about the pun). Obviously less important in an attacker, but as EPL requires most if not all of the side to defend, this might be a bit of a weakness if /when Utd sign him.

I'm just not convinced by pedro in general to be honest. I know he is competing with an attack that is possibly one of the best in history but he has never been first choice at Barca and I would rather see some of our youth players given a chance.

Really liking the look of Depay. But it's shocking how poor Jones is. I think he's regressed since joining. I know it was a tough test but he just plays like a total moron. I'm not sure there's anything he does well. How he gets in over Smalling (who admittedly makes Valencia look technically gifted) I just don't know.

If Utd do get him, I think he will be good for 15 + goals a season as long as he gets regular starts, and while he isn't a huge assister these should bring his totals over the 20 mark - its the pace that Utd need imo that has been severly lacking, and for the price being talked about its worth the "risk" imo

Given the amount of games Utd are likely to have this season, there should be enough games to go around for the U21's of real promise to get a good amount of time on the pitch anyway.

Im a little concerned by Januzaj in the sense that if LvG wants to use him centrally (as last night) - isn't he a little lightweight for that role in the EPL? He isn't exactly bulky by any stretch of the imagination....just think he could get bullied by most cb's due to his size /weight

Costa broke his hamstring again in Chelsea's win over Barca last night :(

Latest news:

' Cahill has a chance of a broken nose, maybe yes, maybe no. If no, perfect. If yes, he will get a mask tomorrow to be ready for Sunday!

'Diego felt a little thing in his hamstring. We believe it is just a feeling, no more than that, but we have to wait.'

Pretty poor performance tonight. Our final ball was consistently terrible, and too many balls given away needlessly, exactly like in the game vs Barca, trying to pass it out but losing it.

Depay looks like magic though, always one step ahead of the defender, he's gonna score quite a few this year in the Prem.

Perhaps. The quality is there. But i'm unsure if he should be playing as a #10. But he's standing out. I can see rival teams giving him a rough time, they don't have anyone else to worry about.

The performance was not encouraging. Nor have any of the decisions made been. Neither Jones or Blind can defend but one is decent on the ball and the other does favour the opposite foot, so the partnership ticks the important boxes at least.

LvG more or less has to have a left footed defender as one of the two centre backs.

If we don't sign anyone then Smalling + Rojo would be my choice. Jones is just a nightmare, sometimes good, but he looks so incredibly clumsy, it's strange.
