2015 Academy Awards Thread?

So is Birdman really that good? It's going to have to be pretty special to be GBH in my mind.

I heard a reporter last night say it's more that the subject material of Birdman resonates with the hollywood luvvies who are voting.

I really enjoyed it, but it's not everyones cup of tea, and I personally would have preferred GBH or Boyhood to have won.

Best moment for me was Lady Gaga absolutely nailing the Sound of music medley and then Julie Andrews coming out to present an Oscar.

I've loved Julie since I was a small child.

Disappointed Boyhood didn't win more. It seems that they are sharing the Oscars around to all the films now - which seems a bit odd.

12 years spend making that film,it still came out brilliant, everyone was amazing in it (over those 12 years) and it still only got one award. I just dont get it.

Yes but it didn't actually do much.
It was like a biographical nature programme, looking at the human family group.
The acting was fine, it progressed nicely, dialogue wasn't exactly ground breaking. The concept of the film making was ground breaking. Patricia Arquette got an actress award, she acted her role very well. Seems fair enough.

Wasn't a great show, but didn't expect it to be with Doogie hosting. Opener was good and actually pretty cleverly done. Went downhill rapidly after that. I do agree with the numptys on the Sky coverage that it needs a comedian to host. The suggestion from a couple of years ago of having The Muppets host the oscars could be a winner. Swedish Chef presenting foreign language film? ;)

Happy for GBH to win the artistic awards, was hoping for more for it, but wasn't to be. I'm yet to see Birdman, but from reading about it online, it's really not for me.

There was a lot of surprisingly political speeches though. But to balance that out, they missed out Christine Cavanaugh, Jan Hooks, Rik Mayall, Richard Kiel, Carol Ann Susi and of course, Joan Rivers in the in memoriam section. They did better than the Baftas though and remembered Bob Hoskins.
