Hi All :)
I'm looking for some advice on my next monitor, I had to go cheap for my current one, now I can delve into something a little more meaty.

I'm looking to spend up to around £400-£500 with size staying around 27-28 inches.

My favourites so far have been ASUS and DELL

Current Monitor was something like £120 it's an Acer K242HL. I'm thinking about going with the larger LG monitor, LG UltraWide 34UC97, but it's a bump..

What have you guys got now and what do you reccommend?

It depends on your requirements.

If you want something for gaming and you're using an nVidia card, get something with GSync. If you're using an AMD card, get something like the above that uses FreeSync.

I'm currently using a Dell U2711 that has served me well for the last four or five years (and before that, an early Asus 120Hz monitor) with no plans to change it anytime soon, however I have used a friend's Asus ROG Swift and had a play around with an ultra wide. My thoughts coming away from both was that the refresh rate of the Swift was nice, but the real estate of the ultra wide was more my thing. That said, I don't do a huge amount of gaming anymore, and when I do, it's single player stuff. The one thing I couldn't do after living with my U2711 for so long is go back to TN, but now the 120-144Hz IPS monitors are out that's not really the trade off anymore.

Personally I'd go for the ultra wide. I didn't miss the 120Hz of my old monitor moving to the Dell because it was such a nice upgrade in terms of resolution and physical screen size.
