2015 Yamaha R1 launched

I think it looks alright :)
When you said it looked fugly, I was thinking about what Kwak did with the Z... Lol. But no, this looks quite nice I think.

I like it. I think.....

Not sure on the tiny headlights, they have always been crucial to the overall design of the R1 since it's launch. There hard to see at all on this one.

The price is crazy though. I bought my first R1 brand new in 2000 for £7,000. That's some inflation.

It'll be all that titanium & magnesium, god help you if you drop it & damage the exhaust, that'll do wonders for your insurance renewal. :p

If we are talking silly money for exotic bikes then for me the R1 isn't even in the frame !

I'd rather have the Honda RC213V-S or the 1299 Panigale R :cool::p

Honda RC213V-S . Road going version of Marquez's race bike . Apart from the colour scheme , THIS is a bike , 200bhp , meh :cool::cool::cool:

Will cost an absolute fortune !!!

^ Honda, not doing it for me.. Looks wise.. I'm sure it rides nice mind..

As for the new R1, R1M ? Personally i think Yamaha have knocked it out of the ball park with this one.. They without doubt make the best looking bikes out of the four Jap manufacturers.

Of course, I am a self admitted Yamaha fan boy... But hey at least i admit it.. I'm droolin' over the new R1M. Sure wouldn't be kicking it out of bed in the morning. ;)

Liking the Yam and Honda lots.

Aprilia are having a good month. Not content with securing the 2014 WSB title, they've just launched the RSV4RR. 201 bhp and 180 kg (dry).

I think I just did a little sex wee.

Having spent some more time looking at the R1 I think it's top half looks ok i.e. seat unit, tank and nose fairing but then it all gets messy as you look lower down.

The colour schemes really don't help there, I'm sure with a bit more imagination they could have blended things in or broke the lines up with some more colour both on the fairing panels, engine cases and exhaust shields etc

Bit similar with the Honda, but they've limited their design by sticking fairly close to the MotoGP bike. Would say the handlebar guards are there to stay - notice they've mounted the mirrors on them, wonder what that does to handling/steering compared to mirrors usually fixed to the fairing.

Honda will sell every one of those, same as Yamaha with the R1M but it's clear to me that Yamaha are aiming for their bike to be raced while I can't see Honda ever wanting to homologate the RCV1000 as the production numbers would cost them too much to produce and it's not like the R1M in having a mass produced version to share lots of parts with.

Looking at the front fairing designs it's ironic that WSB rules force the bikes to run dummy roadbike headlight stickers, but even those will be virtually invisible on the Yams now even following the rules to the letter!

I'm on the Kawasaki mailing list. So just seen the H2.

Wouldn't hit it with a barge pole. Sort of thing you'd wash yourself off in the shower with disgust, after hitting that munter of a bike !
