2016 Goals and Achievements Thread

2015
Did stronglifts for most of the year.
Increased my weight from 13st 7lbs to 14st 9lbs
Benched more than my bodyweight.
Improved my squat and deadlift form.

2016
Lose enough fat to see the outline of my abs.
Change to a periodised weightlifting program.
Clean up my diet and get back to or above 14st 9lbs with less bodyfat than before.
Squat 150kg
Deadlift 200kg
Bench 110kg

2015 was my first year of actual lifting, targets were pretty simple. 60kg bench, over 100kg squat and 150kg deadlift. (all 1 rm) I ended up with 75 kg bench, (can do 60 for 6 rep sets), 130kg squat and 170kg deadlift. Unfortunately while my lifts gained so did my belly, I put on a 1 and a half stone!. My first goal is to cut to about 13st which I'll try to stay around. Lift goals this year are:- 100kg bench, 150kg squat and 200kg deadlift.

So I meant to do a Mar 1st update but forgot - doh! I was in America for 4.5 weeks & only got back into training last week. So roughly 6 weeks off my normal twice weekly PT sessions.

5kg to go to achieve milestone 2. Going to try & push for 3KG loss come the next update in Apr.

2015 Achievements
• Started to train again - I've had a huge hiatus and 2014/15 on a whole was filled with unhappiness and comfort eating. In Aug I decided to shed the weight of my fiancée and started back training in Nov.
• From Nov to just before Christmas I'd lost around 10kg/23lbs.
• Christmas only set me back 1kg/2lbs! :p

2016 Goals
• Reach my initial goal of 60kg - I've set myself 5 milestones along the way & once each one is achieved I'll reward myself with something small.

Hopefully by this time next year my focus can be on strength and not weight-loss, but one thing at a time! :)

I'm just hoping for some consistent, injury free, lifting. My goals for now is to get back on track, eat a lot and lift a lot. Not fussed about the numbers as long as they're higher than last year:

Squat: 140kg+
Bench: 85kg+
Deadlift 155kg+

Well that's one off my list but I'm still going through rehab to deal with an unknown knee injury do it might be a while but I'm up to 47.5kg x 9 on squats (hell yeah!) and 130kg x 5 on deadlift so the deadlift mini goal might not be too far off.

Boom! 215kg deadlift tonight fairly comfortably.

Benching 105kg for reps and 140kg squat so the goals are in sight. No sign of any abs though. :(

I've managed to hit all kinds of PBs this year despite moving house, getting divorced, selling house, starting a new relationship, and having to travel with work :p added 20kg to deadlift and 10 or 15kg to bench (can't remember which), sitting at the heaviest I've ever been, and looking alright for it.

Time to dig in and try harder though. Winter is coming.

2016 goals
First half of the year will be focusing on a third half marathon in March and first marathon in May.
Second half of the year hopefully back to doing some regular weightlifting and see if I can't set some new PBs.
Keeping up regular Parkruns as often as possible.

Did the third half marathon about 11 minutes faster than I did my first half marathon and both were on the same course. Also did my first marathon and finished it just inside 3 hours 30 minutes which I think was ok for a first go. I'll probably do another half marathon before the end of the year and a few shorter races too, one being a 10km in October which I'm hoping to do in a time of around 40 minutes.

Have started back at the gym but typically only managing to go once a week at the moment as I've also joined a running club so I've got less time to devote to that. I'm going to see if I can get it sorted so I can go at least twice a week as that should be often enough to make some slow progress.

Still doing Parkrun most weeks or volunteering at it, next goal there is to dip under 20 minutes for 5km but that might have to wait for the cooler weather. I don't think I can reach 100 Parkruns before the end of the year now so that'll have to be a goal for early next year instead.

Might as well set out some goals for the second half of 2016:

train consistently for the rest of the year - back on dat dere stronklifts.
get a cardio - just started couch to 5k, end of 9wk program is the end of sept.

Forgot about this thread!

8 months in and apart from a forced 2 week lay off through injury recently and surgery in April (off for about 2 weeks as well), I'm still hitting it hard. Weight has gone haywire. I'm up about 13-15kg since January despite eating NO, read that again, NO bad foods ..... more than once a month :p . In all seriousness, diet is pretty much on point. I was a 34' waist in January, I'm a 36' now. Or on a low/no food day, I can still squeeze into a 34' Levi.

Strong as an ox and on the heaviest dumbells in the gym on dumbell presses.

However, one thing I am quite pleased with is that I've doubled down on leg training and improved quad size. I probably class that as my biggest achievement this year.

I guess for the remainder of the year I just want to keep going as I'm going now. Injury free would be nice but you can't have everything you want. If I can train with a slipped disc (mind you in pain but super careful) and stitching after surgery, not much else can happen that'll keep me out of there for too long :p

Oh dear! I have improved on my 5km run (now 22 minutes) and my 10km has come down to 46 minutes, but i've since had surgery on my back which put me back about 8 weeks! Slowly getting back to that, but can't see these happening!

Completely forgot about this thread but I hit a 160kg Deadlift ages ago in competition so that's another one off the list. Hopefully it won't be long until I can scratch off the Squat goal too.

2015 achievements
150kg deadlift

And not much else. I did add 10kg to my bench PB but it's still tiny! Reached my 3k miles cycling target

2016 goals
Squat 120 for reps / 145 for 1 (for 2*BW)
Do an Everesting ride (ie climb 29029 ft in a single day, doing it on the second May Bank Holiday = DONE!

Two months to go bump. One goal achieved for me and while I won't squat 120 for reps my squat is much improved so I give myself 75% achievement unlocked trophy

Oh and I'll be just short of 5k miles on the bike
