Great alternative to the C63 and its AWD.

Naturally, AMG will enter this market niche from a position of dominant engine performance by turning up the wick on the twin-turbo, 3.0-liter V-6 that has been serving the C400 range. (That model will be dropped upon the C450's introduction for 2016.) By nudging the boost up, output climbs from 329 hp and 354 lb-ft in the C400 to 362/384. That's segment-leading thrust against the S4's 333/325 and BMW 335i's (admittedly coy) 300/300. Oh, and there's a sporty red applique on the engine cover.

Over 100bhp deficit and not a V8

AWD is all well and good but is it really an alternative to a C63??

Guess he means alternative in that a 335i is an alternative to a M3.

The C-Class has typically lacked a (decent) engine between their countless diesel offerings and the C63 V8.

Yep I was staggered at the engine range - I was having a look around the new C class the other day. If I got one I'd have a diesel (high mileage) but there was only one petrol on the menu apart from the C63 and that was the entry level C200. A decent petrol engine would definitely suit the car nicely

Ahhh, I see. Makes sense now. Considering the engine options this does indeed seem to fill a gap.

I really like the look of this. A great Q car for sure, very capable. I will look out for one in about 8 years time once they have depreciated accordingly!

What I meant was not everyone needs all the power of the C63.This has enough power to satisfy 90% of the enthusiasts.
