Not where I'd like to be
Hello all. I've decided to move away from a desktop to a gaming laptop but as I haven't bought a laptop in years I'm not up on release schedules.

Do we know roughly when the new CPU/GPU laptops will be released, is there a time of the year they tend to be released in?

I want to buy one now but if release is imminent then I might wait.

Cheers.

I budget is large ~£3K+ I'd wait for the 6 Core i9-8950HK.

And if you have more patience, I'd wait for Volta GPU's (God knows when but hopefully Q2/3 this year).

If neither of the above apply get one now. Skylake and Kabylake are both tolerable CPU's. And Pascal in the GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 in laptops kicks arse.

Hi

I'm in a similar situation. I still have my rig but I am travelling more and from June will be away for 4 months. I wondered myself what is coming in 2018. My feeling is that we might see similar spec gaming laptops to now but with the Coffee Lake CPU around Q2. The fact that there was nothing at CES to get excited about to me says gaming laptops are in for a slow year. I seriously doubt you will see Volta in a laptop until Q4. As for Coffee Lake. Yes it will be nice and a bit faster and more efficient but not enough of a reason to wait imho. Volta will be worth the wait though I'm sure.

I think I am going to get an Aorus X5 V7 CF3 sometime in the near future. It ticks a lot of boxes for me. If I were you I'd buy now.

Cheers for the replies gents.

I've decided I'm going to buy one this week from the 2017 range. A choice between 2 right now so I just have to make my mind up. I think I've seen every review and YouTube video on them.
