I know it used to be that wireless mice were not recommended for gaming due to extra lag etc.

What about a modern wireless mouse with 1000hz polling rate etc. like one of the higher end ones, are they now identical to a wired mouse for performance and lag etc?

They would have to be identical in performance to wired for me to consider one, but it would be nice not having an annoying cable.

Can anyone tell me if they have tested this?

I've moved from a G403 wired to a G703 (same, but wireless).

- There's no difference in performance or feel.
- It works wired or wireless the same. Plug or unplug in-game, with no interruption.
- It's a little bit heavier.

That's about it. All I notice is the little extra weight, and of course, having no cable in the way. At this point, the tech is basically invisible.

I do not like heavy mice, I play games with Zowie fk2 and use a G402 for normal web browsing etc. Will have to look and see if there are any wireless mice that are not heavy.

There won't be any as light as the fk2 cause of the weight of the battery.

looks like the only difference is the weight of the battery, do the more expensive ones use a built in battery? I noticed some of them have AA batteries and others do not mention a battery so I assume it is a built in rechargeable battery similar to a mobile phone etc? I guess this would be an issue with longevity as well if it does not have replaceable battery. But still probably get 5 years out of it before battery is bad.

Yes they use internal proprietary custom batteries, not removable ones. TBH, the battery would not be the most obvious point of failure. Buttons, ect... will fail before the battery becomes useless.

Is there any way of replacing the battery in any of them? I think you can replace the switches they are about 1 quid each.

I've got an old Logitech Performance MX, it just uses off the shelf rechargeable AA batteries (which it will charge when connected via a cable) and a I've also got a Logitech MX Master which has an internal battery that cannot be accessed.
