Alladin (2019) description on sky...

'This film has outdated attitudes, language and cultural depictions which may cause offence today. Re-imagining of the Disney animation with Will Smith. Flashing images.'

Somethings gone terribly wrong in 2020 if Sky thinks a 2019 children's film needs a 'woke' trigger warning.....

Even aliens, a film with multiple strong female characters, doesn't pass the 2020 woke can proceed without a trigger warning test apparently.

Still not quite sure why?

Disney+ have been putting these warnings on the old films, like Dumbo with the racist crows.

Wow, need to re-watch that old classic, don't remember the crows saying the N word back in the day. :D:D

Maybe if they remake it they can use rap-stars as it's ok for then to say the n word and talk about abusing women, that's keep the woke folk happy, right!!!!

Times are definitely getting a bit strange.

I’ve been playing through all the Resident Evil games and have most recently been playing through Resident Evil 5. I couldn’t help but feel rather awkward as I mowed down all of the black enemies when I started the game.

I rallied and assured myself it was not problematic, but I remember it got bad press at the time and they changed elements to make it less provocative (such as having a black sidekick... albeit with far lighter skin then those subject to my bullets).

I was sort of surprised I reacted that way. Must... not... become... super-woke!!!

Ha actually another example... I love a theme park and I’m looking at travelling to Phantasialsnd in Germany and staying in an on site hotel. Ones Asian themed and one’s African themed. OK. I then started watching POVs of the rides and on the lift hill there were some fake bones decorating part of the lift hill of the African themed roller coaster...

Again... I felt myself feeling a little... aware. I didn’t feel offended but I definitely think the chance of that decoration going up now would probably be slim!

What was your point in mentioning race/skin colour.
I was answering the OP. Suggesting a reason why Aliens might need the trigger warning it apparently now requires.

I wasn't being facetious about your post. I actually just can't make out what your tone/thrust is.

I never even realised that was a thing with Vasquez. I knew she was in the best shape of her life but never thought about it. Interesting read of the interview. Either way she was absolutely fricking awesome in that film.

It's a product of its time when this wasn't seen as a massive issue so people can leave it the hell alone.

Amazing how films back then were diverse too and didn't need people screeching on social media to make sure it happened! Strong women, PoC check and check and no one had any problem with it (see also Predator 1+2, Terminator etc etc) :)

Will there be any movies that aren’t “problematic” left soon?

Let me guess. No person from the actual societal demographic concerned has ever complained about these films, it’s always some middle class white busybody being offended on their behalf just in case.

Critical Drinker's latest video nails this subject.

The Hudson line is an in joke amongst the cast. The actress who played Vasquez turned up to the audition in skirt suit and heels. She thought she was applying for a role in a film about illegal immigrants in California. Everyone else in the waiting room was wearing army fatigues. It's an improv line they kept. It's also in character for Hudson to make a joke like that.

Ah, "woke" - the pejorative term people can use to self-identify as wilfully dozy.

It's ironic that what Vox identifies as the cultural baggage and harmful depictions of Arabs in Aladdin and which are being denied in this thread almost certainly contributed to the ignorance and islamophobia demonstrated by those denying it.

Nah, I’m pretty sure it’s the actual killing of innocent people in Western cities in the last decade or so rather than an old movie that have led people to be rightfully suspicious of Islam.
