2019 NFL Season Thread

How the heck are the Falcons getting all these sacks? Hardly a sack all year and 6 now today, the Saints line as well

As a Falcon fan, it beats me.

Usually the opposing quarterback has time to pick up a newspaper and read through the entire sports section before the Falcon rush bypasses the O-line. 1-7 before tonight and the one win was a scrape against a Philly outfit with all of its major weapons sidelined. Nothing stranger than football.

I couldn't quite work out how much was bad Rams play and how much was freaking awesome Steelers D, seriously that Steelers D is scary gene you watch and Fitzpatrick and Bush are seemingly getting better each week.

I don't like the Steelers but it is a shame Ben is injured as they would be fascinating in the play offs with such a good D.

How you can go a game and not hit Cupp with a single connection though.... That's bad.

the way its been going its more down to bad rams play and poor online, also added to that is over 100yds in penalties in this game, and overall way too much indiscipline.

as ive mentioned before goff is always open to being intercepted as he tends to throw a lot of passes that dont stick to the qb mantra of "put it in a place only your guy can catch it", if the defender gets a shout or turns round they would be able to get it.

yeah, cupp for me is by far our main offensive threat and to not use him is insane, which could be linked to mcvay not working more on upgrading what we do.

edit:

okay, having a hard time understanding this at all:

Todd Gurley, the Rams best offensive player Sunday, went the entire fourth quarter without touching the ball.

"That was just kind of the rotation," McVay said, when asked why Gurley wasn't on the field to begin the fourth quarter

Gurley played 11 of 17 fourth-quarter snaps after taking a breather the first two drives. Yet, not once did McVay call his number. No rushes, no targets.

Had to wait a bit from the game last night to post this. Needed to call a friend to talk me off the ledge! ( ;) )

How does Jason Freaking Garrett still have a job? He's incredibly smart, very hard worker, but he's a lousy coach! He doesn't play to win, he plays not to lose. He can't manage the clock, nor can he make adjustments on the fly in game. He just flat sucks.

FTR I've felt this way since the Atlanta game in '17 when he allowed Dak to get sacked 8 times because he insisted on using a turnstile at right guard when the starter got injured.

I think it's always hard to tell from just the highlights, as there could be plenty of bad plays that didn't get shown, but as a non believer in Dak, I have to give him credit for playing very well, from what I could see. At the same time, he couldn't pull out the win when it was needed.... thankfully :p (As a Skins fan I need to take what I can get!)

Again, only highlights of Seahawks 49ers, but looked to be a great game.

don't understand why, after elliot not being able to do anything all night they'd try to run him twice when it came down to the wire.

vikings setup to stop elliiot, which they did, and put it all on dak and his receivers, shame the cowboy coaches couldn't see that

Proper gutted the seahawks beat the niners last night. Starting to get fed up with Jimmy G throwing an interception nearly every game. Could have been the difference maker.

I have a deep hatred of the hawks....

It's not really on Jimmy G, he was 24 of 26 and most QB's throw an interception. He isn't Wilson level elite but he's an above average starter who is helping the the win games.

He should have connected on the last play in OT mind...

It was just a crazy game, when you had the ball why Shanahan felt the need to launch pass after pass rather than running a normal play and edging closer to FG range is beyond me, your oline play didn't help but you had injuries there. No Kittle, Sander off injured early and no Gould and you only just lost. A loss is frustrating but still a lot going for this team.

like the cowboys with their running the other night, and mcvay has made similar no sense calls, do wonder about coaches sometimes.

That was a seriously impressive game last night, the intensity was crazy, it felt like a playoff game. As phenomenal as that 49ers defence is, I think they need to find a touch more balance between the offence and defence. Jimmy G made some good throws but he should have been intercepted a few more times than he was, particularly the easy one K.J. Wright dropped.

Having said that, they were missing Kittle, who has been a big target for Garoppolo so far. I can't wait for the Ravens vs 49ers at the beginning of December, it's going to be fascinating to see if the 49ers defence has answers for Lamar Jackson and the option offence of the Ravens.

when you consider jimmy g has really only had around 1 season of games since being at the 49'ers i think hes still getting to know the offence, and the offence to know/understand him.

with jackson you have to work at trying to confuse him with the line ups you put up on the dline, make him have to think about whats going on, saying that the pats are usually good at it but he got past them once.

I can tell you why.... Jason Garrett is an idiot!

*26 of 46. He wasn’t great. He choked tbh.

the start they've had this season has got people carried away.

for me its down to game time experience, until he got to the 49'ers he had backup/rookie numbers, added to that his progression has been hampered by injuries.

i don't think hes top level, but i don't think he's down with the worst of the qbs around at the mo.
