2019 NFL Season Thread

seen mention that the texans did try to deal clowney to miami linked to tunsil, but clowney wanted to go somewhere with a chance of winning, and a lot are looking at the way o'brien handled it so they couldn't get a better deal for him.

not seen much of rosen so not sure where he lies in the current qb list, but to be behind fitz seems a bit much as he has had chances and for me proved hes nothing more than a backup.

mentioning of oline, that's my main reason for not rating prescott that highly, hes done ok at dallas but they've had one of the best lines around, talk of him holding out for top qb money, when he isn't

A couple of things here. First Dak isn't holding out, Zeke is. In Dak's first year the O line was superior but injuries have kept them from fielding that line the last two years.... remember the Atlanta game in '17? Dak got sacked 8 times. (because Garrett is an idiot)

Dak's numbers since he entered the league are pretty darn impressive. He's not Brady or Brees or Rodgers but he's still really good. As far as top dollar goes, well that's just the way it is for QBs in the NFL. Look at Matt Staffords deal and tell me what he's done in Detroit to deserve that. The thing is, there's just no such thing as a QBs R Us store for any team to go get another QB. The NFL is a QB driven league and when you get a serviceable one you pay him.... because you have no choice. You have a chance to win with a decent QB, you zero chance with a poor QB.

by holding out i don't mean not playing, i mean wanting top qb pay when for me hes not in the top qb bracket.

as for stafford, had a look around , 2011 he went for over 5,000 yds, and been over 4,000 every season up until last season so they got their monies worth i think.

be intersting to see how things gets settled with him, elliot and cooper.

i understand what your saying about paying, its like with all positions and i don't blame any of them for getting as much as they can, up to the front office to deal with it how they think best.

as for winning with a "poor" qb you know manning has 2 don't ya, and i mean eli not peyton :D.

Fair enough.

Got their monies worth? He's played 10 seasons and been in 3 post-season games and lost them all. Now a good bit of that is the bad teams he's had to deal with, but still. Dak's been in the league 3 years, been in 3 post season games and won one of them.

Dak and Cooper will get paid. Zeke will get a very good contract if he chooses to accept.

lol... good point. To that I'll just say there's an exception to every rule. :D

I personally feel they could plug quite a few QB's in Dallas and they would do well. I would definitely take Stafford over Dak... Because the team has made the playoffs doesn't necessarily mean the QB is great. Dilfer has a ring don't forget.

dallas are used to romo getting them to the play offs, even tho stafford lost all 3 , the lions hand't seen a play off game since 1999 so that counts as worthwhile surely ?

I never said Dak was great. Matter of fact I made it clear he wasn't when I pointed out he's no Brady, Brees or Rodgers. I simply pointed out that his numbers and his winning % were really good. And they are. This isn't about Dak vs. Stafford, we were discussing QB salaries. QBs get paid or they get cut. It's one or the other. No middle ground.

You're welcome to think Stafford is better than Dak. I don't agree.

He will get paid top money, but not due to Dak, more the NFL in general.

There is no 'average QB' money anymore. QBs either get paid top money, or backup money with no middle ground.

Dak is good but not great, I would put him alongside the likes of Wentz, Garappolo and Carr, and they all got paid more than they are worth purely due to their age and the increasing salary cap.

I think Dak will end up with a contract of $30m a year plus.

Jakey Biscuit just got an average QB contract, 15 mill a year puts him about 15th-20th. He's got a lot more to prove than Dak but the contracts do exist.

Tbf, a young Pro Bowl QB should get paid though...

He's a weird one. His first season he looked truly terrible. I remember watching as some of his passes bounced off the dirt, yards away from receivers. Then last year, I remember him hitting such a perfect pass into the corner of the endzone, on the move, over two DB's... one of the best passes I remember seeing recently.

my problem with goff are most of his mistakes are basic ones, i'm interested if he's managed to improve over last season.

unlike a few qb's he's been fortunate that they've improved the oline in front of him.

Goff is weird, at times he looks amazingly elite, others he looks painfully average (like the Superbowl)

The money... Well you would struggle to get better than him without tanking so he's probably worth it.

i think its more to do with mcvays scheme than goff, not saying he doesn't make good throws, but his overall game doesn't inspire me with confidence.

he was always going to get paid after what we gave up for him.

Mariota better get back up money!!!

will be interesting to see how that goes, him and winston

His game management needs to develop, saying that he came into the.league really young so he has time.

I reckon Winston will get an extension as they've just gave the GM who drafted him a new contract so unless he's a dumpsters fire this year he's getting a new contract.

Hooooooooooo boy, being reported AB got physical with Mayock and players had to break them up. Being reported at the minute they may suspend him for "conduct detrimental to the team" allowing them to reclaim his 30 mill guaranteed payments and terminate his contract.

They guy is a ******* fruit loop :D
