Hey guys, long time no see. you may remember me, I was the guy who spent £1,500 on a gaming PC about 8 years ago and didn't take out the transport packaging for the first 3 weeks....whilst playing on it.

(as a testament to the build quality of OcUK, my rig still played butter smooth. During and after)

Now you know the calibre of my **** up, we can only pray I have learned something in the ensuing years.

Introduction over.

I need a monitor for my new pc set up with an ETA of around February 2021.

This is the bad boy I'm after, as much as Mother and Father tell me not to commit to this dalliance of a relationship, I...just....cant....quit it..... BUT....I need to know if there's anything better I should be looking out for.

I'm REALLY interested in the HDR600 but from the reviews I've read so far, there is a lot of room for improvement with that. I love the refresh rate too, i dont want lower than 144 but I've read all sorts about the chroma sampling downgrading to 4 2 2 at 160 and above. Is this something we can expect to see a solution for in the new year?

My main focus is on the HDR, Refresh & Ultrawide, to my eyes I cant see many options, but I value and appreciate the opinions of the members of these forums.

To give you an idea of the games I play here's a list:

Red Dead Redemption 2
GTA 5
Warcraft
COD Games
Dead by Daylight
Civ 6
Middle Earth: Shadow of War
Borderland 3
Just Cause 4
Rocket League

I wouldn't get your hopes up where HDR is concerned and concentrate on general quality of the screen an your other requirements of refresh and ultrawide. Unfortunately, you will likely have to make some compromises and monitors really lack where HDR is concerned. I wouldn't bother with it at the moment unless it is a many zone FALD or OLED.

Ahh ok, I take your point on that, so we're not likely to see any HDR 800 panels this year or next then? and you mention FALD or OLED screens, do you have any example monitors you like?

Would you rate the LG Monitor I linked? any other suggestions?

Thanks for the reply
