Hey,

Trying to find some 205 55 16's for my civic as I have a screw in one of the rears and they are dated 2008 so figured I may as well just replace them with some fresh rubber.

The only thing I can see remotely 'ok' in this size is the continental sport contact 2. If anyone can suggest anything else I'd appreciate it!

Falken FK452 (Or the slightly better original FK451) if it comes in that size. Eagle F1's are pretty good, but also quite expensive. Dunlop SP Sports are also quite nice.

Got Michelin PS3s on mine which I rate highly and suit my driving style. They are looking pricier these days and there are definitely better tyres available.

Not really a "sporty" size though

For my Golf i was going to fit Hankook S1 EVO, Pirelli P7 Cint or mayve Vredestein Cento

So sport contact 2's are my best bet? Actually had a brown trouser moment on the way to work this morning and I'm convinced the back tyres played a part in that.

I had the above on my Bora and never had issue with this particular corner at the same speed.

About to replace a set of the Pirelli P7 Cint, wear very quickly! Also had Falken 452 which weren't much better. Was going to try a set of the Toyo CF2.

I had a set of SC2 on an audi more than 10 years ago now, surely they have to be very very out of date. i think theyre up to SC5

He said 'which tyre doesnt suck' not 'which tyre is the most over-rated on the internet'.

Fox the mystical search button found a thread where you asked the question a while ago for a smaller tyre for someones car! Can you offer any advice here?

Not in my lame size they aren't!

Got SC2 on my Golf in this size, I haven't tried all available competition but I have no complaints about these tyres at all, performed admirably even when I had to do a 70mph emergency stop in the wet because someone got confused on the stoney cross 'crossing' junction on the A31.

When I bought them I got 4 for £250ish fitted IIRC, and there wasn't anything else near that price that looked half as good to me.

Premium contact 5 should be a decent tyre, alternatively I'd probably still go with sport contact 2. They may be old but still work very well ( I couldn't really tell the difference between 2 and 3......and couldn't tell the difference between 3 and 5 on the same car)

Was going to say, I'm very happy with pc5's, another good option is the Goodyear efficient something or other which gets very good reviews.

Just checked and mine are same size, 205-55-16,lots of good tyres at reasonable money in that size, pc5, rs2,Goodyear efficient grip.

Or if you want to spend a bit less, eco contact 5, rain max, etc.

It's one of the easier sizes to shop for!

You'll see less 'uhp' the tyres in this size due to the large profile, however you do get more comfortable 'touring' style tyres. And if you want I'm sure sc5's are hardly any more expensive than pc5's in this size last time I looked.

I looked at the goodyear efficient grip performance but didn't want something worse than the SC2 I had before!!

Tyre reviews seem few and far between!

Well they are beating the pc5's in some of the more recent tests, but if it's a case of better the devil you know then it's sc5 or pc5 really depending on prefence.

The sc2 has been out quite some time now, so I would be looking at '5's'. If Contis own website is anything to go by, there's gains in certain areas, and other areas remain as good as the previous models.. technology moves on... I went for premium 5 over sports due to my perception of better comfort and possibly longer lifespan as opposed to all out performance.
