Hey all,

My boss has just given me a call asking about 206 hdi's (of which I don't have a clue).

He wants to look at one for his daughter and it apparently runs fine except when cold. The description given is as follows :

" When the engines started from stone cold, it fires up immediately and if you then drive away in any normal fashion everything is fine. However, if you proceed to rev the car from cold, there is a period of slight lumpiness in the rev range, a little smoke and then everything settles down and all is fine. This doesnt reoccur until the engine is completely cold."

Apparently the following have been changed :

Injectors tested all fine
Glow plugs tested all fine
Fuel pipes underneath air filter housing replaced
Glow plug relay replaced
One injector seal replaced

Do any of you guys have any suggestions or should he avoid. It is suitably cheap but wondering whether it will bite him big time!

Thanks :)

Current minimum temperatures in Cornwall are like 13 degrees - glow plugs don't count I don't think!

I reckon the guys a liar! Searching around for the problems he's posted on forums regarding a 1.4 hdi saying that 3 injectors are compensating for one!

Would that cause a lumpy run when cold though?

im not 100% sure but we have a vw caddy van at work that sits around does little sometimes if not used for a few days it takes an age to start then is rough as, tbh yours sounds more like a MAF fault, have you tried that?

so he is looking at a car for his daughter that has an issue with it from the off?

sounds like a sensible move.

He was tempted incase it was a cheap fix. After googling though and finding this same garage guy posting on forums I think he's trying to fob off a dodgy car.

His advert says "SOLD AS SEEN NO RETURNS"

Well he's a motor trader so that in itself rings alarm bells to me but there we go!
