hi guys

i am tempted to replace the head unit on my 206 but have a problem -

how would i get the steering wheel controls and the heads up display thing to work?

the 206 has a small screen in the centre above the HU showing time, temperature etc as well as radio info, and ideally i would like to get this working with an aftermarket HU, is this possible?

also i presume the cd changer would just plug into the new HU easily enough? it has the same blue plug as the old HU

any advice much appreciated :)

CD changer might or might not work depending on the HU you buy, it is likely to need an adapter though. On my Clio the changer uses custom interfaces from Alpine so it can't be used with any other stereo.

For the controls and display you'll need another adapter, about £40. Depending on the HU you'll either get full display funcionality (i.e. display radio station names, track names etc), partial (it'll display volume up, down etc but not a lot else) or nothing :)

its 2000, W reg

my mate has a spare HU which i was gonna use, i know its a JVC with an MP3 CD player, thats all

i dont know if its the HU or the speakers but it doesnt sound very good at all, so i was looking into replacing the lot

just tried it and plugged in what i could and it worked well, think if i get the adaptors for the changer and stuff it'll work

sounded a fair bit better than the stock one too :D

edit - is it possible to get an adaptor so i can use the cd changer on the JVC HU? at the moment it has the blaupunkt one on (blue block connector thing) but i cant find one that will change it to the JVC one :(
