Yer nan's knickers
2 months out of warranty, like clockwork :rolleyes:

Anyway, need a new one then. I'm looking for similar performance, maybe a bit more, but I'm not too bothered with the highest frames. Games played- Planetside 2, WoW, various survival games, Minecraft, all on a 60hz 1440p monitor, so a 4090 is wasted on me.

A 3060ti looks about the same but then I'd also like to enter the 4xxx generation so not really sure which one to go for, and I've not even looked at AMD (I'm on an AMD system if that matters).

Any pointers welcome please :)

6600XT seems to be the best match on the AMD side, one on offer at £230 from OcUK atm;

Or a 6650XT/6700XT if you fancy a boost. Being on an AMD system I'd def go that route as SAM can be very useful.

Ignore that link, it's just a normal 6600.

Thanks, but you've certainly given me some food for thought. I'm currently looking at 6700XTs, are there any preferences as to which one? The Powercolor Fighter is cheapest but it looks to be for SFF pcs which is wasted on me, would rather spend a few quid more on something bigger / better heat dissipation.

Yeah I wouldn't get the Fighter it's a bit loud. This looks potentially decent;

The Asrock PGD reviews well, https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asrock-radeon-rx-6700-xt-phantom-gaming-d/37.html. Just be careful how you use the RGB header on the card as I have heard that plugging it into the motherboard can cause damage.

Otherwise I would jump up to the 4070 as while it could do with better performance and vram it is cheaper than what people paid for a 3080 and will save money on the electricity bill.

And now whilst sitting on the couch perusing the various GPU reviews, my GPU suddenly wakes up and the screeen turns on.

I'm so confused right now :confused:

Will give a bit and see if it holds, if these random crashes become more common I may end up spending some coin.

You can get an RX6700XT for around £330~£350 if you shop around. Around 10% faster than an RTX2080 in rasterised and similar overall in RT performance,and you get 4GB more of VRAM. It is also slightly faster than an RTX3060TI in rasterised performance.

WRT to the RTX4000 series,Nvidia wants to sell their RTX3050 replacement as the £450 RTX4060TI 8GB,so essentially an RTX3070 at RTX3070 pricing. Considering that the RTX4070 is 24% to 44% faster than an RTX3060TI for 60% more money,then the RTX4060TI 8GB might not a big improvement either.

It might be the PSU too.
