Out of curiosity How long do you reckon you will be able to play current games at decent / high settings on a stock 8GB RTX 2080 at 1440p?

Other bits are :- Ryzen 5800x/32GB RAM/NVME SSD

I prefer quality over frame rate, so as long as i'm at least 60+ frames thats more important to me than high frame rates.

I was going to be looking ay buying an RX6800/XT at some point, but GPU availability looks like its going to be fairly dire for some considerable time yet.

I don't want to pay really inflated prices so I'm wondering if I just wait out the current 'new' cards and see if things settle down later in year, or even just miss this years cards and get the RDNA3 / 40 series which will probably appear next sure. (as well as hoping avaialbility will be better!)

You should be fine for a few years. Dont forget the game guides as some game settings cause big frame drops for hardly any improvement on picture quality.
