2080 super v2070 super

Pick up a 2nd hand 1070/1080 you shouldnt lose too much and will be a perfect stop gap. Don't spend so much now for the card to plummet in value when next gen is release
This is very good advice, a used gtx1070 is only 30% behind the 2070 super at 30% of the price.

Whent for the EVGA 2080 Super FTW3 Ultra Gaming in the end as it has a 48hr replacement for the full 3 years of the warranty .
Thanks for the help :)

I had a GTX1080 that blew up so I replaced it with a RTX 2070S and there was an amazing difference. I hadn't really expected much difference but there was. I have a 3440x1440 monitor and with the GTX 1080 it struggled with games like Monster Hunter. At ultra it was doing about 50-58fps at greater than 70 degrees C. If I tweaked the settings a bit then I could just about get it to 60fps. When I replaced it with the Gigabyte Gaming RTX 2070 S, it runs ultra settings above 60fps all the time at 54 degrees C. I mean I guess that it depends how much OP wants to spend but to me it was worth the extra money. I mean dont forget that cards usually command a good used value so all is not lost.
