Hi all, So managed to get a 2080 Gaming X Trio for a good price ( Reportedly running hot ( Hot spot 110 Degrees and the occasional crash ) after a re-paste fans stay silent at 47% barely breaking 65 degrees GPU temp and 80 Hot spot in this heat and with an overclock! and has run stable no issues for the past 24 hours after benching upon benching upon gaming.
Anyway, just wanted to see how they fared against each other with a max overclock
RTX 3060 Ti FE +125 Core +1000 Memory
RTX 2080 Ti Gaming X Trio + 100 core + 1000 Memory
3060 Ti iirc boosts to 2050 whereas 2080 Ti peaks at 2.1 iirc and never dips below 2ghz whereas the 3060 Ti was mid 1900's after some runs:
All games were tested with the latest 532.03 drivers, i9 9900k 4.8Ghz 16gb Corsair Vengance 3600mhz at 4k.
Resident evil 4 Prioritise graphics preset:- 2080 Ti 2% faster - this surprised me given the extra Vram on the 2080 Ti - I guess it'll just allow higher textures
3060 Ti:
Average framerate : 67.9 FPS
Minimum framerate : 51.2 FPS
Maximum framerate : 76.4 FPS
1% low framerate : 59.2 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 4.7 FPS
2080 Ti:
Average framerate : 69.5 FPS
Minimum framerate : 54.6 FPS
Maximum framerate : 100.7 FPS
1% low framerate : 55.8 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 44.4 FPS
Doom Eternal Maxed out ultra nightmare NO Raytracing - 2080 Ti 38% faster
3060 Ti:
Average framerate : 87.0 FPS
Minimum framerate : 63.2 FPS
Maximum framerate : 108.6 FPS
1% low framerate : 62.2 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 57.1 FPS
2080 Ti:
Average framerate : 120.1 FPS
Minimum framerate : 84.8 FPS
Maximum framerate : 149.8 FPS
1% low framerate : 83.9 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 73.1 FPS
Doom Eternal ultra preset AND Raytracing (3060 Ti Vram wouldn't allow Ultra nightmare & Raytracing - 2080 Ti DOES allow this but kept apples to apples ) - 2080 Ti 316% faster! an obvious case of where Vram DOES matter ( Hot topic as of lately )
3060 Ti:
Average framerate : 27.9 FPS
Minimum framerate : 20.1 FPS
Maximum framerate : 37.8 FPS
1% low framerate : 18.6 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 12.4 FPS
2080 Ti:
Average framerate : 88.2 FPS
Minimum framerate : 59.9 FPS
Maximum framerate : 119.8 FPS
1% low framerate : 58.4 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 46.0 FPS
Days Gone - Maxed out - 2080 Ti 29% faster - this was a game I tested on my 3070 also and found this games performs much better on the 2080 Ti vs Ampere.
3060 Ti:
Average framerate : 58.4 FPS
Minimum framerate : 47.8 FPS
Maximum framerate : 74.9 FPS
1% low framerate : 45.9 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 36.2 FPS
2080 Ti:
Average framerate : 75.8 FPS
Minimum framerate : 60.9 FPS
Maximum framerate : 92.8 FPS
1% low framerate : 56.7 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 43.2 FPS
Far Cry 6 Maxed out, HD Textures & Raytracing (Not Shadows) - 2080 Ti 126% faster - again another case of not enough Vram
3060 Ti:
Average framerate : 25.5 FPS
Minimum framerate : 11.8 FPS
Maximum framerate : 59.3 FPS
1% low framerate : 9.7 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 6.4 FPS
2080 Ti:
Average framerate : 57.8 FPS
Minimum framerate : 48.8 FPS
Maximum framerate : 62.1 FPS
1% low framerate : 42.0 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 26.9 FPS
**I also ran a benchmark of Shadow of the Tomb raider, same settings as the benchmark thread on here, 4K 3060 Ti got a score a 38 fps whilst my 2080 Ti got an average of 49 making it a 29% victory for the 2080 Ti.
Excluding the results with the obvious Vram issues (Doom Raytracing & FC6) with all the averages added together the 2080 Ti ended up being exactly 25% faster whilst consuming 50% more power 330w vs 220w on the 3060 Ti.
2080 Ti is the obvious faster card but the 'little' 3060 Ti still can pack a punch!
