Going to order the 21.5 iMac today if I can decide on what model. The only difference I can see is

2.7 vs 2.9 ghz
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 512MB vs NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M with 512MB

I will be using the for photoshop and odd bit of b browsing when I get distracted
So just wondering if the £150 difference is worth it ?

Get the 27" if you can afford it otherwise max out the RAM on the 21 at point of purchase.

I wouldn't bother with the CPU/GPU bump based on your usage you won't see much if any difference imo.

wow its messy to upgrade the memory on the 21.5, I've not had to look on how to do it.

I was considering updating my 21.5 imac to the new one just for the dual display out but have to think again now.

I didn't like the idea of a 27" screen for home either, but I started using then more and more often at work and you learn to just focus on the certain part of the screen that your working with.

I do prefer to have separate screens rather than large ones. :)

Hmm now I'm undecided. Really don't like the fact, that you can't just pop some Ram in the 21.5 but, I also really didn't want the 27": as I feel it is just to big for me.

I was getting this mainly for photo editing. I have been having a read around, and now not so sure,if it is the way to go. It seems, the glossy screen, isn't the best way to go for photo editing ? And with limited calibration ?

I'm in no doubt it is an amazing screen but maybe not the right choice for me ?

I justified the 27" to myself as being better value as you get at 27" 2560x1440 ips display (which sells for £899 on its own) instead of a little 21" 1920x1080 one.

27" new anti reflective or less reflective screen. Great for photo editing.

Would this be better ? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-039-NE&groupid=17&catid=510&subcat=

I agree, and if I do go down this route it would be the 27" as I think it is the only choice now to be honest.

No, that is a TN screen, and I think 8 bit.

Worst thing you can get.

You want a IPS - 10 bit screen minimum for photo editing. 14 bit if you can, higher the better.

Any good ones on this site ? Did I read something about IPS giving people headaches ??? I may be muddled up on this :D

If you don't want a larger screen but why buy a second monitor?

Spend the extra money on the 27", upgrade the ram. Job done.

Well I was considering not getting the mac and getting system from ocuk with a decent screen.

But now I've come back round:D and I'm going 27" iMac. I'm hoping to pick it up in apple store tomorrow. I don't fancy waiting 3-4 weeks if I can help it. I Will upgrade ram myself as way cheaper. Only other thing fusion drive worth it ?

Also the iMac will hold it value for a future upgrade when needed.

i stuck with the 2011 imac for the ram reason. 27" was too big for the space i had and i knew the 21.5" on the new models couldnt have the ram upgrade.

managed to get hold of a 27inch in apple store yesterday :D
Wow. It is amazing, and I'm already getting used to the screen size. I am really glad I went 27inch now.

now got to figure out best photo editing software choices for RAW as i dont have mac vesion of photoshop. Lightroom or photoshop or both? will make a post in photography section.

Glad you went for the 27" :) and well done on getting one in stock ! What spec did you get?

Lightroom, download the trial to see if you like it, I think there is an offer online to buy it around £70, vs £105 ish that I paid when it came out.
