okies, i have had this dell for a while, and it replaced my 21" CRT... but its feeling different, picture quality doesnt feel as deep to me, not as strong... if you get what i mean (CRT users will instantly identify this)

so my Q is, what do you guys think? i could pretty much sell the dell for a couple of hundred off the original price on ebay easily and go back to my 21" CRT.

although, if i stuck to my CRT, ill be using res's of 1600x1200 instead of 1920x1200, which would make my sli setup overkill....

any help would be truely appreciated.

don't be a silly billy :p , seriously though I do know what you mean, many many moons ago when I made my first transition to an LCD I really was'nt that impressed but over time you just get used to it and you won't even give it a secound thought, plus if you go back to a 21" crt not only are you going back to a lower resolution which would definitly be silly if you have a SLI setup but your also loseing widescreen.

hmmmm, maybe i am being stupid... i should just go to sleep and wake up tomorrow hugging my dell.... poor crt :( deprived of gameing.

My 19" CRT is a higher res than my 22" LCD

The OP's CRT isn't though.

my CRT can get to a 2058x1536 res, and not strain... only im not sure if it shows  have to test that one out.

so, think i might just stick with my CRT cos after all, it is gorgously sexy with its picture quality and my mate is begging for the LCD and i didnt get him a xmas or bday pressie, and he got me on :( so its only fair lol.

so, 21" CRT it is.

thanks guys

if you're selling the dell let me know lol. seriously though do you not think that not getting as 'deep' a picture quality would put you of lcd, i mena think of the desk space :P

this might sound weird, but my desk has just enough depth so that my eclipse keyboard and xtatic mouse mat just touch the lip of my desk. and i prefer it that way, instead of lunging over the desk with galons of unused space.

like lowrider007, poeple like me and him (and other original 21" CRT users) will argue this with me, they just feel a lot smoother.. richer.. nicer, but then again, its statistically proven that LCD's are better, so there is a quarrel as to where to go...

you have to see my argument :P

Sorry cant help but to notice your sig, whats up with that barracuda sound card lol.

i really like what was said about the hp1 headphones, and i had the choice of the soundcard or the elite pro xfi... and i took a risk and went with the baraccuda... not sure if i made the right desicion. but then again, there is one nice and neat jack for plugging the headphones in :)

p.s. i need to update it as well, considering i swapped my 6700 for a 6800 with my mate, he wanted quadro, i wanted speedo.

yes and having a keyboard and mouse on the edge of your desk is very bad for your wrists and all

the arms of my chair are parallel with my arms, meaning they rest on them with no height difference. rally comfortable... but i spose your right lol

Or you could get a Sony 24" GDM-FW900 CRT and run the same res as your Dell (fw900 is also 16:10 aspect) then you'd have all the advantages of CRT as well, I have a NEC 20WMGX2 sitting next to my FW900 and know exactly what you mean by the lack of deepness on the LCD. I only use the LCD for web browsing and the CRT for everything else.

I would do this, put them side by side, and dual screen them, I wasnt a convert to Tft for years. I had a 21" CRT then bought a 19" tft, couldnt get used to the resolution difference, ran them side by side for weeks and suddenly looking at films and even the boot up screens started to prefer the tft. I Aint looked back since.....

ive decided for sho! lol, CRT it is, sorry guys, its just not my time to shine with the big guns just yet.

mate walked off with my LCD earlier this eve, he even paid me retail just to get it lol (he didnt pay what i paid for vat)

so im not all that fussed, means i can save it for later.

now, if you dont mind, i am going to officialy close this thread and let my CRT enjoy playing oblivion with its lush green colours in max resolution with everything max, they way it was meant to be done :)
