Hi, my exchange is due to be upgraded on the 31st of march and my internet service allows upto 20Mbps. When my exchange is finally upgraded will the router just suddenly reconnect at the higher speed or there something i have to do?

No it will not. It depends entirely on the package you are on currently with your ISP and their advertised speed(s) with the package.

Also, don't get your hopes up and think that come 31/03 it will be live instantly, mine said 31/03 last year and it wasn't ready until mid/end of April (not particularly bad but don't follow the schedule to a T!)..

Speak to your ISP in April and see what they can do for you, they'll be able to check if they can move/amend your line to the new 21CN network.

Again, I would speak to your ISP and ask how they manage it. It may seamlessly change over itself as long as your router is ADSL2+ capable (which I'm sure it is).. Or they may have to schedule switching over customers to the new network in batches.

Maybe my OP was'nt clear but i'm on a upto 20Mbps package now.

Then 21CN will do nothing for you. 21CN is mainly a cost saving upgrade for BT's back-end; if you already have ADSL2+ services available you will not gain any additional speed at all.

I'm not on ADSL2 i'm on ADSL i meant the package allows upto 20Mbps. i.e my ISP does'nt have separate ADSL, ADSL2 packages.

Right, apologies for misunderstanding. I imagine you'll end up having to contact your ISP to clarify, I doubt you'd be automatically migrated.

Also make sure your router can support ADSL2+ (most can) and that if there is a setting in there that ADSL2+ is selected as an option.

My local exchange was enabled for 21CN WBC a couple of months ago and our ADSL service has still remained exactly the same (ADSL1 - 6600KB sync & 448KB upload). However I have not bothered to speak to our current ISP as we are migrating within the next few days so I expect to see a change then.

Both SamKnows and speaking to a guy on the phone to BT have confirmed that my road is definitely WBC enabled. I think in both our case is that it's worth speaking with the ISP as they might need reset/refresh the ADSL on the phone line.
