Hi,

I have been following various threads on this forum re different monitors in this range. From this and other research I have come the list below as 'possibles'.

Mandatory for me is that the monitor has 'height adjustment'.
I would also like HDMI connection - if possible within the budget.

The price figures reflect what I have seen in recent research.
My budget was set at £150 -£160 spread, but may be able to tweak a little higher - MAX £200

- LG Flatron W2246PM-BF (£148)
- Not the newest bit of kit on the block - but good strong stand with height adjustment. Not many reviews around either, but other models in this range seem to rank OK, they just do not have the height adjustment

- Iiyama B2209HDS (£158)
- The 'B' is supposed to indciate 'Business version' and therefore with height adjustable stand. Generally good things in reviews on this range

- - - and then I got side tracked a little by referenes to 24 inch monitors

- LG W2442 PA (£181)
- another that seems to be well liked in reviews

- Benq BL2400 PT (£176)
- This is a VA screen, and is the 'Business' version - rather than the EW2420. There is a difference in the anti-glare coating, and the BL2400 has the height adjsutment function. There are also some differences in the connectivity provided. Another one with mixed reception in the reviews on this forum.
It seems that the advantage of the VA screen is somewhat tempered with concerns about 'blur' on fast moving action, and also some questions about build quality.

The Dell U2311 at well over £200 is just too much for my budget as part of a complete replacement PC set-up. This will be based around an Intel I5-760 and have a NVidia GTX460 graphics card.

I am tempted towards the Benq though - I just wish I could see one in action somewhere.

Maybe I am getting hung up on the matter of the blurring etc, when Game playing is only part of my need. I almost certainly only game with Flight Sim (FSX etc), Train Sim (Railworks et al) and Driving Sims.

Does anyone out there have any experience of using the Benq?, and /or any thoughts as to which may best suit my needs.

Thanks & Regards

John

Folks,

I just thought I would 'bump' this one - with an update as to my deliberations.

Having now seen the Benq BL2400 in action I too would share some of the comments / concerns others have mentioned. I now there are plenty of people on here very satisfied with this product, but in the last few days I have spoken to three people with this screen. One has just received a replacement - and still not totally satisfied. The second is awaiting his replacement and OK the third is well pleased.

But for me the downsides are telling me to delete this from my list.

Almost everywhere I look I see that the Iiyama gets consistently good reviews and I keep coming back to either the B2209HDS - or the 24 inch equivalent (B2409HDSD). As mentioned before - height adjustment - is a must for me.

These 'business' versions are not necessarily the 'blingiest', and are thankfully not glossy black, but from all other factors seem to be what I need / want

The 'size' question is really only about how comfortable I will be with the larger screen - and less so the gap in price.

I am not sure just how 'old' these models are and whether I am missing something in my analysis. Any comments out there??????

Thanks

John

I have been asking on this subject, i've been recomened the Samsung P2450H 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black, but doesnt have height adjustment

Thought I would just close this one out - I have ordered the Iiyama B2209HDS - as of yesterday.

Am just awaiting confirmation of stock, and hope to pop along and collect tomorrow (Sat) - weather permitting. The new PC is ready and waiting.

After quite a while of umming and arring I finally got the chance to see both the 22 inch and the 24 inch in the flesh, and also a couple of others.

To be honest the 24 inch is lovely, but a bit too big for me. - So the B2209HDS it is.

Thanks to everyone who has chipped in on this and similar threads - the information has been very useful and I am grateful for that.

Regards

John
