Looking for an upgrade for my baby brother as a Christmas gift.

He is currently running an old Dell 1704 17" monitor but he's been on about getting a larger widescreen for ages now.
I'm looking at 22-24 size range but he does sit quite close to it about 2foot away.

He mainly uses it for games (l4d2, Torchlight, wow), forum browsing and general school work word processing and a bit of photoshop.. (being 17y/o he probably uses it to "google" Lucy Pinder)

Running a 4850 512mb [http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-117-XF] if this makes any difference.

Any suggestions? I've looked but have little experience or knowledge when it comes to monitors myself.
Would like to spend around £150 to £200 (but lower the better as I've got 3 other brothers that I'll have to spend around the same amount on)

Thanks in advance

get 24" if possible wish I had... differnce in size is so worth it

also them games will easy run on that card in full hd....

also I doubt its lucy pinder.... defo more hardcore

Hah, yeah your probably right about his internet habbits.

I thought maybe a better quality screen in a slightly smaller size as he's sitting infront of it for quite long hours at a time. Even a 22" upgrade from a 17" gives him a lot more real estate.
Also, stuff like stand heights and viewing angles should not be a problem as I'll probably get roped in to hanging it from the wall on an adjustable arm.

The dell 2209wa would be my only suggestion in this price range.

it is a very well built monitor, with a high quality e-ips panel. it is simply lovely and would fit your brother's need perfectly.

Here is a review.

Hmm, 250£ was pushing my budget to the absolute maximum as it was. And with no stock and no eta I guess I'm either going to have to shop around or look at an alternative.

Ah I see, original price was around the 200mark and now its up to £250.
