22" monitor

Too many people are raving about this monitor! Unfortunately, everyone seems to be unanimous in saying that the Dell is blowing all competitors out of the water, so it would probably be worth waiting for more to get in stock if you can. If not, there may be some other places that stock them...

I've been looking at some 1080p monitors, cheaper than the Dell, and at a higher resolution, but everyone is still saying "don't bother, just get the dell"... So it's obviously pretty good!

Yea lol I have already had that I was originally going to get the Iiyama ProLite PLE2209HDS-B 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor which I thought was a pretty decent monitor but Im told that its a budget monitor and even tho it has a higher res and faster response the dell is far superior.

The problem is I have been researching and asking questions about my new spec for a month now lol and am getting very eager to order it.

Trust me, most people here know exactly how you feel!

I can't afford a new monitor right now, unfortunately, as my car is dying! I've just got to hope that when i do have the money, this monitor will be in stock, or there will be a better version.

*goes and checks for a 24" version*

I was patiently waiting for the dell to come into stock but whilst still browsing I have read that a monitor with 1080p is better for coding and web design. This Samsung SM2343BW 23" Widescreen LCD Monitor has been recomended for that purpose. My problem is that I want the best of both worlds i.e. a monitor that is good for coding and gaming is the dell still the best choice?

If you want to treat youself and go non-TN, the HP LP2275W is in a similar league to the Dell 2209WA. It uses a S-PVA panel, while the dell uses an E-IPS.

is that monitor on overclockers? Im not sure how the dell and hp compare specs wise but they are both 1050p and I think the dell looks better.

I agree that the dell is the better looking and performing monitor - but they are impossible to get hold of at the moment. I think they had a firmware update to A01, so don't expect them to be available until the end of July.

The HP is not on OCUK, so I guess google is your answer.

Yeah its a pain that its out of stock I had made up my mind on it. But you wouldnt recmend the samsung? Is there any TN based monitors that you would recoment since IPS are impossible to get at the moment?

God, thats a hard one. The samsung is not a bad monitor at all. Its just the difference in quality between it and the dell is stark.

For me, sitting in front of my dream monitor, it is easy to say "don't sweat it, wait a bit longer". But being without a good monitor for a month is a pain in the behind - so you will have to factor that into your calculation ( I am ofcourse assuming that you have a monitor you could comandeer for a few weeks, which may not be the case).

That samsung will serve you well (as will a Dell S2409W). But you have to ask yourself, will you still be happy using a TN sceen when the dell 2209wa is back and available?

Cheers for the update slackworth. Was it an update to Revision A01, or something else?

They are brilliant monitors and its good to hear OCUK will have them back in reasonably soon.

Its not that im without a monitor for a month, but im ordering a whole new rig from ocuk and have been researching and asking questions for a month now. Im finally ready to order but the monitor is out of stock :( I could just go ahead and order the rig and use an CRT monitor for a while but I dont want to spoil the xperience of a whole new shiny pc lol and theres the fact I will have to pay for delivery twice.

As for asking myself the question. Well I didnt know about IPS or TN untill you told me on another thread and im not even sure if I will notice the difference.
