Sorry if this is a commonly asked question, but I can't seem to find any concise info on this. Is there like a list of 22" widescreen monitors (or 20") that have 1:1 pixel mapping?

I'm currently looking at the LG L226WTQ 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor but I'm not sure if it has 1:1 pixel mapping. I don't mind if it stretches the picture but I would like it to keep the aspect ratio intact (i.e. placing black borders on sides when using 4:3 resolutions).

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

I've got the LG226, and it doesn't do 1:1 pixel mapping through the VGA. I've not tried it through DVI.

Aww Crap. :(

Hmm, does it ever bother you though? Imagine quite a few games only support 4:3?

I can tolerate the image stretching, but not if the aspect ratio is changed.

Don't be concerned with game running in 4:3, there is a workaround for 99% of game out there.

http://www.widescreengamingforum.com is an awesome resource.

There is a way to retain aspect ratio through ATIs CCC as well.

Im a pretty serious gamer and I have never had to play in 4:3 though.

Thanks, that link is extremely useful!

I just recieved the LG L226WTQ today I'm pretty impressed. Looks very sharp and colourful, without requiring any contrast/brightness adjustment nonsense. Theres a driver CD with it and some other software, but I didn't bother installing it since the default windows driver works fine (does the driver make any difference?). Also, every game I tried so far has full support for the new resolution and at worst requires a minor tweak.

My only gripe with the monitor is that the backlight bleed at the bottom of the screen is a little excessive, especially when it's dark. It's not really noticeable in most games but whilst playing SC: Chaos Theory, it stood out quite a bit (still a minor issue though).

Also Oblivion looks ******* awesome in widescreen! I don't know what it is, but the environment just came alive when I switched to the new resolution. Amazingly my X1900XT can still handle the game at 1680x1050, but I'm really itching to get a Geforce 8/HD2900 now!
