Hi all,

I am currently looking into getting myself a 22" Widescreen monitor to replace my 19" Viewsonic. I use my P.C mainly for FPS games (COD2, DOOM3, Battlefield 2 etc) and general browsing.

I am looking at two choices

Samsung SM-2232BW Pebble

or a

Samsung SM-226CW

Now I have been going a bit of research (is a bit confusing with so many similar panel names etc)..

As far as I can make out the only difference between the two is the 226CW is the 226CW has a "wide colour gamut". I have not been able to find too much information on the "Wide Colour Gamut". Is there anybody on here that can explain it to me, and is it worth the extra £35 over the 2232BW?

I have to say I prefer the design of the Pebble, however if the Wide Colour Gamut" makes a significant difference to the picture quality that is what I will go for.

Also does anybody else run games at the native res (1650x1050) using an X1950XTX, and if so, how do the majority of games run?

Cheers in advance for any help :)

Hi there

Just to throw another option into the mix you might want consider the 223BW and save yourself some more money.

In regards to an X1950 running at 1650x1050 well it will do that without breaking a sweat. :)

Hi Gibbo, cheers for your reply.

I have looked at the 223BW as well. I do like it, but being a gamer I want to get the fastest monitor I can get my mitts on. I am happy to pay the extra £40 or so to get the 2ms response times.

I understand in the real world there is probably not a lot of difference, but I don't want to find myself asking the question "why didn't I spend the little extra and get the 2ms one...".

I am glad to hear the XTX will keep me going at that resolution for the near future :)

I've just been in the same situation as you, i went from a VX922 to the Sammy 2232BW, all i can says is the difference is stunning! The 922 is not by any means a bad monitor, but the 2232 blows it out of the water, and the bezel looks great too!

Well worth the money.
