Hello

I'm ready to move on from from 19" crt and invest in a lcd widescreen monitor. My 19" is making a very high pitch noise and i can see it shake in the corners.

I cant make up my mind weather to get a 22" or a 24".

for 22" i'm thinking about Belinea 2225S1W 22" Widescreen, which a freind has got and i think looks amazing.

for the 24" its going to be a dell.

Competitor pricing removed

Is paying an addional £260.01 justified for an extra 2".

I will be using it for what everybody does really, the standard browsing, plenty movie/tv-episode watching and i do web/graphic design freelance.

What would you do? i can afford it - but i need to justify it, i dont like wasting money i rather give it to a needy charity.

I wouldnt give it to a charity lol Buy more hardware.

I have a Dell 2407wfp monitor myself. They have loads of connections and has full HD display, Something no 22" will have (ergo making them obselete already).

Also Dell are great for the warrenty. I smashed mine with my fist and they replaced it :)

Only problem is that my dad has set up a massive Projector screen which dwarfs any monitor that will ever be created

What graphics card do you have dude? And what games are you playing?

1920 x 1200 needs reasonable power, as I just discovered last night

So 22 cant do HD? - not even 720p?

I'm leaning more toward 24 - do you think any other brand will get to the £500 mark for 24" in the next 2 months?

I mainly play CS Source and red alert 3. I want to play widescreen.

My spec i have right now:

Amd X2 6000+
2GB Corsair Dominator Ram
150GB Raptor + 2x 750GB Sata2
Ati 1950xtx (waiting for x2900xtx (or x2950xtx - we all know its gonna happen))
Antec P180
OCZ 700w power supply

ims sure it will do 720. But who gives a ****

1080 is the way of the future.

I am Running a 8800GTX, which runs everything perfectly on maximum.

But to be quite honest a 7900GTO (my last card) played CS-S (Cpu limited) @ 1920x1200 with 4xaa 16xaf best quality @ 70fps.

It looks really really sweet

Since I got mine for £407, I haven't been looking around, other than in a vaguely smug sort of way... ;)

I have a the specs here and even with the X1900XT it handles C&C3 just fine in 1920x1200. Haven't tried CS:S yet. Should do really.

Hitman Blood Money looks bloody brilliant also.

Personally I don't think it is, although not having used a 24" I'm perhaps not best placed to judge.

The problem for me is pricing - the cost of a 24" is more than double that of a 22". Yes a 24" is slightly bigger, has higher resolution and maybe more features, but you're talking an extra £250+. If screen real estate is what's important, then surely you may as well buy two 22" panels and still be left with a fistfull of dollars!

You're paying more for the resolution. A 24" may only be 9% larger than a 22" but it has 30% more pixels.

As for dual monitors, they're no substitute for one large panel of similar total area tbh.

my advice, go for the 24 inch, 22 inch screens use the same resolution as 20 inch (1680x1050) that resolution seems to work better on the 20 inch, the image you see is less stretched.

Right, i've made up my mind - i'm going for the 24".

I'mgoing to wait until the ViewSonic VX2435WM comes out and reviews are out.

Then it will be a choice between that and dell.

Thanks for your opinions.

Ive just got the 2407 and its a great Display would recommend it over any 22".

S-PVA against TN is no contest plus you can watch 1080P stuff at Full HD.

Im using a 24 Dell LCD but my eyesight is poor so i will prbably downgrade. Yes ive increased the DPI and the ICONS and the text but some games are awful at full res.

NWN2 is a great example. Eye strain galore !

Hmm looking at the 22 Samsung atm
