I'm wondering if anyone knows if the 2200g is capable of outputting 1440p at 144hz or can it only do 1080p 144hz?

Motherboard is ASROCK b450M-PRO4 that has DVI-D, HDMI output (not sure of HDMI version) but not display port output.

I'm looking to buy a new monitor so I need 144hz but don't know if I need 1080p or 1440p, and obviously I don't want to purchase a 1440p 144hz monitor if my CPU and Motherboard don't support it.

I don't know the answer 100% but have a feeling those devices are HDMI 1.4 which might limit you to 1080p at that refresh?

If I get a chance I might try later with my daughters machine as she has as rock board but with 2400g

All boards with a HDMI port and a Zen+ or newer APU installed should work fine with HDMI 2.0. Even if the spec says 1.4.

I'd expect 1440p 144hz monitors to need Display port for the most part though.

HDMI is capable of plenty if it is 2.0, it is whether the board/chip supports the features that is in question, Specs are vague, there is what the chips are capable of vs what the boards support.

Pretty sure I have done 4k60 on my daughters machine which would imply HDMI2 in which case 1440p144 should be capable if there is driver support, I will try and check, I have never used high refresh rate despite a 4k@120 screen :o :D
