I assume you mean the samsung monitor? HDCP stands for High-Definition Content Protection (i think), basically it means when connecting a HD media player with HDCP you need a display with HDCP for them to be compatible. An example would be the PS3, if you were to connect it to a display without HDCP it wouldn't work
The 226BW has HDCP, so this wont be a problem.
HDMI is a cable/connector that can carry HD video and sound.
DVI yet again is a cable/connector that can carry video signal but, unlike HDMI, no sound.
I think PC monitors have a slightly different aspect ratio to televisions. If you were to connect a Xbox360/PS3 it will work but you will probably have thin borders at the top and bottom of the monitor - not a huge problem.
The 226BW lacks a HDMI connector, so, if you wanted to connect a device that only supports HDMI (for example the PS3) to it you will need a HDMI to DVI converter/cable to connect it to your monitor, they can be found for quite an affordable price. However, as i mentioned before, DVI does not carry audio signals, so you will need to connect the device to a set of speakers seperately in order to get audio.
Kind of a bit of a babble, but thats everything i know summed up in the space of 2 mins. Hope it helped.
