226BW - How to find panel type?

You can't with the latest models, you haven't been able to for months. Both the labels and the hidden firmware menu are no longer of any help. The only way is to physically dismantle your monitor, which I wouldn't recommend.
Why worry? If the picture is good, that's what counts!

Can you suggest a good program and calibration image ... sorry for the noob question but i wouldn't really know where to start with this stuff....

- Grrrr, just tried almost all 64 bit version of magic tune and it keeps telling me that the version is not supported. There is nothing drastically wrong with my monitor but there is definitely something that is not right ... It's with the blue's in particular. Why didn't i buy the more expensive model
I tried adding a new profile following this guide and nothing appeared to happen. TBH, i got stuck on this part "[FONT=Arial, Helvetica]Click on the « Advanced » tab in the peripheral profile, select the modified ICC profile, click « OK » and it should start working[/FONT]".
So now i'm stuck with a supposedly high spec monitor that looks worse than my cheep LG 19".
So, any help with getting magic tune working or calibration would be much appreciated.

OR beh u could have listen to me and got the iiyama E2201W which is cheaper @ £190, has a guaranteed samsung panel, LOOKS identical to the 226 and has NO input lag
ul with the monitor tho, TBH u should get a screen calibration tool will most def. make it look better

Well, i still can not stand to look at this monitor, i prefer my cheep LG 19 lol. The model number is: LS22MEHSFV/EDC.
I'm going to try it and return it as i have attempted to tune it and also use magic tune which dosn't seem to work at all and still no luck. Angel, get your point mate, but there is nothing i can do now.

Update: Just RMAed the 226BW. Will never buy Samsung again. Will probably go liyama e2201w-b2 due to this review.

That's a bit harsh.
What exactly was the issue with the monitor, aside from not being able to tell what sort of panel it was?
Returning a monitor because you don't know the panel make is seems a bit paranoid to me, and you even quoted "the picture is good"

I'm returning the monitor because the colors are all wrong and i have not been able to successfully calibrate it. When i said the picture was good, that was before i really took a closer look. I compared it to the colors displayed on my HP laptop and then with my LG widescreen and all the blues, red's etc were off.
After about an hour of use this REALLY grated on me. I tried magic tune which wouldn't install on XP or vista 64 as well as some other calibration techniques and i couldn't get it looking right.
To use your analogy BFG, how would you feel if you paid top dollar for something like a S-Class Merc and the wheel alignment and suspension where completely shot? After a few hours of using this monitor, i packed it up and switched to using my old LG.

well since you had bought it then really you should have spent more time trying to get the colours right you never know it may have been your other monitor with the bad colours but you were used to them.
im not trying to defend samsungs panel lottery as it is a bit of a **** take and ive said so many times on the 226bw threads...if you pay for a samsung panel then a samsung panel is what you should get. i know there are lots who disagree with that but i think your bonkers
