I'm very close to getting this monitor as everyone seems to be bashing one out over it but im a bit worried by the limited 1600x1050 resolution i dont want to be at the stage where my pc hardware can comfortably handle resolutions on games greater than this but is held back by the monitor if that makes sense?

im on a core2duo 6600 (oc'd to 3ghz)
8800GTS 320mb
2gb ram
1280x1024 viewsonic vx922

Yes my current setup can just about run oblivion on 1280x1024 with everything on high except AA/bloom/HDR but ill be upgrading in the near future to 4gb of ram and probably a ATI 4890.
will i end up with a rig capable of more than the monitor? ill expect that setup to last me at least another 3 years and after than ill change everything including the monitor.
i do like to play a lot of the older games like max payne/half life/guild wars etc and can understand id obviously be able to play them higher than i can go but if we were to just look at the latest games using say crysis as the benchmark would the upgraded pc outstrip the monitor?

Can anyone at OC confirm the latest revision of these monitors and if they have them in stock? is there anyway when ordering to ensure i get the latest revision unit?
can you also clarify if you deal with the zero dead pixel policy or Dell does and if thats a seperate cost.

thanks for any help

Lol, no the monitor is fine. 1680x1050 may not be quite FullHD but it is a very big resolution and will put huge strain on your 4890 in modern games. If you look at some benchmarks for that GPU, you will see that the framerates are much better at 1680x1050 resolution than 1920x1200 for Crysis - its 45FPS compared to 35FPS - a noticeable difference in my opinion.

Bottom line, the monitor resolution is fine and due to the superior panel technology (e-IPS) it will look much better than competing monitors.

As for the revision, I remember reading in the OCUK thread for that monitor that all monitors are A01 revision. I'm not sure OCUK do a perfect pixel policy, but through dell you do get the Premium Pixel Guarantee.
