24" 144Hz 1080p recommendations

I think he means that because you have a 1070 in your sig, you should be looking at G-Sync monitors. Its competitor, FreeSync, would indeed be cheaper, but it won't work with your nVidia card. At least for now. Some say nVidia will never support FreeSync (or Adaptive-Sync, which FreeSync is based on), but judging from the current market trends, FreeSync has taken the lead, and will become the industry standard (Intel has given their support for Adaptive-Sync, already), so nVidia will eventually have to swallow their pride and at least start supporting Adaptive-Sync.

But this might take a while, so for the time being, nVidia users will just have to pay the nVidia-tax in their monitors, or forego the variable refresh rate goodness.

I don't have personal experience on the G-Sync, but at least the FreeSync feature is really a game changer.

Yes thanks, I won't pay the G-sync tax but even if it was free I wouldn't buy it as I may go AMD next time and then be stuck with a feature that is useless. Given I have a 1070 a 1080p monitor will be pretty easy to drive so I think that shouldn't be an issue as I'm after a high refresh rate monitor.
