Hello Guys,

Just sold a ipad mini that ee gave me as a prize and looking to put that money towards a new monator for myself. The two that look nice to me are the ..Asus VG248QE 24" Widescreen 144Hz 1ms Gaming LED Monitor - Black

Or

Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Midnight Grey

I have a nVidia 580gtx but i dont plan on playing in 3d, never used the fetcher on my lg tv to be fair and the prize of the Dell is very attractive and looks to have very nice reviews. Never heard of the Benq and so on so im asking you pros whats best :)

Only play games like Heros of Newearth, Getting to old to keep up with the kids on FPS games now. So old men games and movies is all it will be used for along with my current 22" LG W2243S.

Thank you in advance for any input.

Cheers,
Paul

Go IPS with the Dell, you don't need a superfast TN panel, rarely do people actually need such a high refresh rate unless they play professionally.

I have the 2412M and it is a great monitor, for general usage it;s a great monitor at a great price, it was well worth the upgrade for me over an old Dell 27" PVA screen, I could also immediately tell the difference in panel response speed as well.

But some say that you want a max 5ms on a ips panel? Think the Dell is 8ms?

As said. I'm open to suggestions. It's only because I know these two makes I looked at them first

The ms response is meaningless imo. unless you are professional gaming for a living where you need every edge you can get.

I can guarantee you would not be able to tell the difference of 3ms. The colours, viewing angles, image quality of the Dell are much more useful than 144hz refresh gaming monitor for the needs you've stated.
