hiho

been wanting to buy me a 24 incher for some time and with christmas money buring a hole in my pocket i'm even more tempted.

now i'm currently running a 1900xt (master card) which i presume is going to struggle with some big resolutions especially as i play new games (graw, cod4, crysis etc).

soo will some flavour of 8800 be on the menu or should i just get a second 1900xt in crossfire for ~£70 (used) and see how it goes unil the next gen cards next year?

any thoughts appreciated. :)

1) Hmm, a 8800GT would be ok in most games esp if not too much AA/AF at 1920x1200, then sell in 8weeks or so and get a new 9800 series card.

2 ) Get another cheap ATI same as you got but waste of money really unless cheap.

3 ) Get by with what you have and buy 24" for less cash in 8weeks along with a 9800 Series card.

Very hard to decide right thing esp if not wasting money.

if the crossfire setup provided the FPS i wanted then i would keep that for a while i reckon, i'm not desperate to get a next gen card and move to Vista for DX10.

i think i need to find out how ppl with crossfire 1900's are finding 1920x1200 :/

Or option 4...

...get the 24", wait until the new 9800 cards are out. That will push current prices down. Then buy a second hand ATi to go uber-cheap Crossfire :) In other words don't buy quite yet but consider Crossfire if you can get it cheap enough.
