oh hai!

Monitor needed for gaming and a light bit of photo work.

I also need it for office so I need it to be clear for text and prefferable not 16:9.

My budget is low so less than £200, I cant afford the HP at £350 :/

heard bad things about it, I had the DGM 24" VA panel and going back to my old iiyama 22" TN panel makes me cry.

Any affordable VA panels around?

Hang tight for BenQ's upcoming VA panels. If they can solve the 'black crush' and ghosting issues then it could be just what you need. I hear the Samsung B2430H/L is a good bet for light photo work and gaming and is well within your budget. You will be hard-pushed to find a panel for your needs and budget that isn't 16:9, though.

If you're after something for photo work, it really needs to be IPS.

For that kind of money I'd drop under 24" - Dell U2311h is a great choice, but you'll have to live with 16:9.

photo work isnt my primary use, infact I only edit a few photo's of my family so it's like 20% of my monitor use.

It's mostly office work and gaming.

Dell U2311h or the NEc one? Are TN panels really that bad? After I discovered the win7 monitor calibration tool my TN iiyama 22" is looking pretty good, not as good as my old DGM VA panel but still acceptable.

Also my iiyama spare monitor is now also broken, its gor a massive blue line all the down it :/

Two monitor fails in 3 days, I have all the luck :/

Well I have ordered this:

LG W2442PA-BF 24" Full HD Monitor 1920x1080 300cd/m2 10000:1 (dynamic) 16:9 Black 3 Year Warranty

£175 - but spent £10 on Saturday delivery as mine has broken and it's driving me mental.

I cant really afford £258 for the 23" Dell IPS, and I have heard bad things about the samsung franco listed, the LG has got good reviews and a good response on ocuk forums and avforums.

Will post up piccies and my feelings on it tommorrow.
