I am looking for 3 monitors to spec into a machine im building ( posted in Hardware for spec etc and i got loads of ideas ) so, i've done a lot of research and i've decided to go with an i5 spec, 5970 ( or 2x5870s ) DD3 Dual channel etc - but i need either a DisplayPort Monitor + 2 others ( running at 1920x1080 ( i think thats the 16:9 format ) or 3 monitors with DVI-D + buy a DisplayPort to DVI-D Dual Link Adapter Cable which is "active" ( powered by USB ) to do this correctly - now.. do OcUK stock such cables? I cant find them.. so :/

Now, with my spec im hitting £1420 quid without the monitors, so i need the said monitors specc'd into a budget of £2000. I could however drop the 5970 or 2 5870's and just get 1 5870 - and buy the Dell 2408WFP 24inc LCD monitor ( 6ms response time tho? :/ ) and 2 other monitors @ 24 inch but cheaper..

What would you lot do?

A friend of mine has just ordered an x58 machine alone the same sort of lines as yours. He bought 3x Dell G2410 screens, 2 over dvi and the last over a hdmi to dvi cable.

You can get DP to dvi cables, just search for them as you can do with the g2410.

From what i have read, to support 3 monitors you NEED the DisplayPort adapter, or a monitor with a DisplayPort on there.. or have i heard wrongly?

I have Displayport on my Dell 2408WFP but the 5970 didn't work with it so I would advise caution with Dell monitors.
