I'm looking at getting an LCD to replace my 21" Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 91 CRT for gaming and photography work. I'm thinking of either a 22" or 24" and have been looking at screens like the Dell 2407WFP. I have only seen 24" screens with a native res of 1920x1200 - I'm a bit worried that my 8800GT won't have quite enough power for games like CoD4 at this res. Can they be bought with a native res of 1680x1050, or should I not worry about it and let the monitor downscale if the gfx card can't handle 1920x1200?

By all reports, the downscaling is A-OK on the Dell 2407's.
I'm in a similar position, but I'd far prefer to have the option of 1920x for desktop etc use than to not.

Is there anywhere you might see comparisons between native res and lowered res (on the higher native res) as the above example?? I'm interested to see what kind of quality difference there is.
