Hi guys

I have been looking at some monitors recently and found that most 24" monitors seem to be LCDs offering HDMI input. The LED monitors seem to mainly favour DVI input :(. If BenQ G2420HDBL had HDMI port I would have bought it straight away.
I would like to buy a good 24"1920X1080p LED monitor that includes HDMI input with a nice stand as I would like to connect my PS3 aswell. I would very much appreciate all the help I can get. Many thanks:(

Im waiting for the Samsung BX2450, 24 led with 2 hdmi connections, 1 dvi and 1 rgb. according to a competitor its avaliable monday. No reviews yet but specs look great, and the styling is awsome.

That Samsung looks really nice although it seems a bit expensive compared to the BenQ.
I'm in the same boat, need HDMI for the PS3 and DVI for the PC, can live without VGA quite easily.

Can I ask why HDMI is preferred for consoles and DVI for PC even though their video output is essentially the same?

I would happily take two DVI ports instead of the HDMI, be using external speakers anyway so it wouldn't make a difference.
VGA is old tech and from reading through the BenQ thread doesn't display as clear as DVI, two DVI ports would have been perfect for what I want on the BenQ LED monitor.

No way is that Samsung going to be £100+ better than the Benq. I'd sooner spend more and get the new Asus 27" LED 120Hz.

The BenQ V2420H is looking like it has what I need. The reviews don't seem all positive though.

Is this better than BenQ G2420HDBL featurewise? Also did it come before or after G2420HDBL?What kind of things are leading V2420H to poor reviews? It seems good to me.

It has both HDMI and DVI which is what we are both after, can't see anything it's lacking over the other one. I'm pretty sure it's brand new so there is much in the way of reviews yet, only proper one I can find is here:

Thanks for the link to the review. It seems they only used vga port to connect that particular laptop and had to use manual settings. The review would have been more reliable if they used dvi and hdmi port aswell to connect to a good specs pc and testing different applications.

I remember in Benq G2420hdbl threads that people bought these monitors and found them to be very bright so they had to adjust the settings manually. Also there have been some complaints that G2420HDBL doesn't display good vga quality but overall people seem to rank it as a very good/excellent monitor.

I would have thought that generally monitors aren't optimised to run any one application or game to it's correct visual settings. Obviously we would need to finetune the settings manually to get the best out of the monitor;).

I would look into V2420H monitor in further details and may buy it. Seems to be in similar price category to G2420HDBL. ;)

Edit: I was going to post the question of G2420HDBL vs V2420H in the BenQ2420HDBL thread but you beat me to it. Hopefully this question should draw further debate between the 2 monitors.

They are in stock in quite a few places but not yet here, I guess once they are we should start seeing some comments.
I can't really justify the price of the Samsung over this, not if it turns out to basically be the G2420HDBL with added HDMI and audio out :)

True. I am surprised people haven't really paid attention to V2420H including me:D. It seems to be the best 24" led monitor for the price plus in my opinion it's superiority over g2420hdbl. Plus it has a very nice stand which I was looking for aswell aswell as atleast £80 cheaper than samsung bx2450.

dvi is fine to connect to a pc however if like me you intend to use the monitor for and xbox or ps3, HDMI isessential.

No you can get hmdi to dvi cables for £2 it's identical apart from the sound doesn't get carried and xbox 360 vga lead is fine just connect to vga

The reason is that there have been reports that the benq vga input isn't that great when used with pc so if you have a ps3 you need that dvi

I have found Samsung's LED panels, thus far, superior to BenQ's LED panels. That's not to say BenQ's panels are bad, but there is a definite price difference between the two manufacturers' LED-backlit series that reflects the image quality difference. I would look out for some upcoming LED-backlit VA panels from BenQ as well.

I certainly think the BX2450 is worth waiting for and I can't wait to test it out. If it's like a 24 inch version of the XL2370 then it's a winner in my mind. ;)

Do you reckon the upcoming BenQ VA monitors are going to be superior to Samsung BX2450? Also how much they are going to worth in your opinion; around £300 may be ?

I think there are two problems with existing *VA panels that need to be addressed; sluggish response times and poor black level distinctions (a loss of detail in shadows and dark textures, for example). If BenQ can sort out these niggling issues then they really could be tempting. Given the superior colours, viewing angles and contrast that is possible on a VA panel these could potentially be a better choice than the Samsung BX2450.

As for pricing I would expect £300 is about right for the EW2420H (the one with lots of ports on the back) but hopefully the VW2420H would be closer to the £250 mark.

I've put my upgrade on hold as most of the 24" even the £250 ones seem a bit naff compared to the samsung 226bw ? in terms of input lag etc

The Samsung BX2450 is in stock at a few places now, still can't find a single review on it though :(
