24" Monitor Recommendations

Hi Guys,

As I am going to getting a new PC this winter, I am hopefully going for a Nehalem setup. I am currently reviewing my monitor.

I currently have a Dell 2407WFP, is this worth changing or not? Have monitors moved on that much?

Thanks

Andy

Budget?

I'd say go for the Hazro 24" S-IPS as it's pretty much the best you'll get, but that might be way out of your budget.

Cool, ill check that out. In terms of quailty is the Dell completly outdated now?

Ive not really got one to be fair. I did notice that Samsung Professional range are these any good?

Its main uses are for Gaming, Email and Photo / Movie work.

Thanks

Andy

A S-IPS screen such as the Hazro 24" will give the best picture quality possible for a TFT and it's very good for gaming apparently: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-002-HO

I've never seen or had a Dell, but I think they're still very good screens as far as I can tell from reviews/comments.

Not sure about the Samsung range either, haven't looked at those at all.

As you're also doing photo/movie work you'll probably want the best colours possible, a Hazro will give you extremely good colours because of the S-IPS technology.

Thank you. Ill check these out.

Many Thanks.

I would appreciate knowing if the Hasro 24" can operate at 50 or 75Hz via DVI (for smooth playback of PAL video at 25fps)... Most monitors seem to be fixed at 60Hz

Thanks very much

Intresting! a lot of people seem to be going crazy for these Hazro's. I might have to trade up!

I was thinking the same thing. One thing i have noticed is the contrast ratio is a bit on the low side. I know this normally doesn't bother me as its nothing to do with colour repoduction but 700:1 ? Thats a bit too low isn't it?

Just be aware of the current issues surrounding the 24Wi/26Wi in the "Hazro - Any Update?" thread. I would wait a week or two (maybe longer) before ordering this to be sure OcUK stocks are the updated firmware ones.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm actually in the same position as the OP. I'm guessing I can get some good cash for my current monitor and use it towards something nice like the a Hazro or something bigger. :)
