How far away from the monitor are you folks viewing this behemoth :D Also do most of these monitors (Dell 2407WFP in particular)allow enough screen drop so that your eye level is comfortable, and you are not looking up at the top of the screen.

If I hold out my arm in front of me, my fingertips are almost touching the screen.
Although if I am watching a film I tend to sit a bit further back to relax more.

My previous monitor (Samsung 243t) didn't have much screen drop, although it could be made to go quite high. I currently have a Samsung 244t which is much better and has a good deal of vertical movement.

Ditto.

It's a double bonus - more screen area to use in Windows, and then you can sit back on the sofa and still see the film properly (used to watch everything on my 17" screen - not so good!)

The 2407 does drop, but to be honest the stand is puny anyway so I doubt it'll ever be too high for you unless you have it on something big.

The bottom of the monitor is 5" above my desk, that's as high as it goes.

The bottom of my 2005 is 3.5" from the desk and the top of the monitor is about level with my eye line if I sit up straight, so the 2407 sounds like it will be fine. Thanks for your help guys.
