I'm getting monitor envy, my 22" just isn't cutting it anymore ;)

I want something 24" or bigger, it's got to have a HDMI connection for an AVR (so no need for multiple HDMIs). I'll mainly be using it for browsing the net, movies, fast paced games and image editing so I'm after a fast(ish) monitor with great colours, I've looked at the IPS monitors but they made me weep so I think the VA screens are the best route for me, however I'm not sure which ones are VA and TN.

I don't have a budget as such, but not looking for anything ridiculous, I guess £150-£300. What can I get for my hard earned then?

Thanks for the reply, but unfortunately it's a TN screen. The bare minimum I'll accept is a VA screen with 8bit colours (although I'd ideally want an IPS) for image editing.

Given your needs and budget all new IPS panel monitors are out of the question. I would recommend taking a 'quick' look through this thread - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18200742&highlight=ew2420+username_pcm2. I suppose their isn't anything quick about looking through the thread. You should check out the EW2420 on PC Monitors (and accompanying comments) and the TFT Central review if you want a good taste of what it can provide.

Basically it's a modern VA panel, 24 inches and within your budget. Provided you get a 'good one' it's a cracking monitor - but there seems to be considerable variation with this one. All VA monitors suffer from relatively poor responsiveness (especially under high-contrast transitions). They aren't as responsive as IPS monitors or TN-panel monitors but as with other monitors they employ varying degrees of overdrive - which does help. The kind of 'trailing' you will experience is covered in the aforementioned reviews.

Haha, as it happens I read that thread a few weeks back due to someone selling theirs on the MM. Seeing the photo of the ghosting in ArmA 2 has put me off (again) as I do like my fast paced games such as Unreal too much :o

Someone recommended the U2311, to be fair if it's the equal of the U2410 and costs significantly less for the sakes of a HDMI port and an inch then I'm all for that screen. If the U2410 is better then I'll keep my eyes open for one second hand.
