Hi guys,

So I managed to pick myself up another 23.6" Packardbell monitor to sit next to my previous monitor (Viseo 230WS) But I have noticed a sort of square with rounded edges appearing on bright white/blue backgrounds? Is there something wrong with the monitor? does it need to be "Broken In" before that will dissapear?

Thanks, Here are some images of it (not the best quality but it illustrates my point)

EDIT: It is very easy to see on the top right and left. But not so much on the bottom left and right.

Is it second hand? The previous owner may have left something on the screen for a while which caused the image to 'burn in' (this can happen very quickly on some cheaper monitors).

As the lines have now disappeared it looks like that definitely was the case.

Sorry, but don't relax just yet.

Did you leave a static image (like a non animated webpage) on the screen for a few hours? Looks like image persistence rather than screen burn-in to me. If you don't know the difference; basically screen burn-in is permanent showing damage and image persistence is a temporary singular image (but can happen multiple times) which will disappear after a little while.

You could try leaving a static image (maybe leave your desktop showing with a cascaded window there) for 15 minutes, then 30, then 1 hour... 2 hours and so on. That way you can see how long it takes for it to occur (seems you might have fallen victim to it).

If it occurs in less than 4 hours then your monitor's resistance to image persistence is failing. Any idea how old it is?

Nope, First time I turned it on it did that, Mind you it was bloody cold when I took it out the box like it had been inside a freezer, Its been fine for the last 4/5 days no sign of the weird square returning!
