Hey guys,

I have just finished braiding most of my power supply cables. I have just plugged in the 24 pin and the system doesn't boot...

I checked with all the pins to make sure that they were all good with my multimeter.

I also check to make sure that I put all the cables back properly by checking them against my spare 24 pin cable. (did this three or four times)

What else can i do?

All I can suggest is check the wires again. Perhaps take the braided 24 pin apart and put all of the cables in again, being extra specially careful to ensure you are putting the cables in the right places.

If you made the cable from scratch, make sure you used the correct type/grade of cable. Then of course there is always the possibility that one of the wires has fractured.

make sure that all the pins are staying in place when you push them into your mobo, after you take the pins out with your removal tool, sometimes, if you dont pull the "flaps" back out, they can move, causing the same problem. check a pin layout diagram again, take ALL of the 24 wires out, then put them all back in starting from one side. remember any of the same colour wires are interchangeable.

i.e any black wire can go to any black wire slot.

Wire could have broken. You may have a crossed wire somewhere. Loose connection on one of the minift junior terminals, check for flaring on the socket end.

When you say 'The system doesn't boot' do you mean it wont start at all ie. Doesn't pass Power good test, or more that it fails to boot into Windows or something.

Well I have used multimeter to do an end to end test to make sure that the cables are all good. All the cables have been checked multiple times and they are fine.

I am going to take all of the pins out of the connector and makes sure that the flaps are out properly so that they are held in correctly.

All of the cables are original from the 24 pin.

The system doesnt start at all. Not even a light on the motherboard...

You have a connection somewhere that is not making correctly. Check all pins are pushed home correctly; it can't be anything else if you have done a continuity check on each wire using a multimeter.

Okay, I have solved it now!

A very weird problem. One of the pins which i put in was getting an electrical connection on the back end and top but not the front of it. Swapped the pin out and it works fine. Very strange!
