I’m looking at a new 24" monitor; I need it to fill two roles firstly as a PC monitor then for playing games on my Xbox 360

I have been looking at:

Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP
Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP-HC
LG L245WP
BenQ FP241W
BenQ FP241WZ
Samsung SM-245B 24

I only use the PC for the internet and work not playing games on, all of my gaming is done via the Xbox 360.

I’m leaning towards either one of the BenQ's or the Dell's because they support 1:1 pixel mapping for the Xbox 360 and will give the best picture quality however the Samsung seems a proper bargain with it being in the This Week Only promotion.

Any help/advice or comments would be greatly appreciated

I understand these questions may have been asked before but I need a answer ASAP as I'm looking to buy Tuesday morning.

Go for the 2407WFP (non HC). The HC version has known ghosting issues but the other one is an absolute bargain if you know where to look :)

The 2407WFP is the one to go for, as said before, the HC version has ghosting issues. Apart from that, the Dell has multiple inputs that lends itself to connecting consoles.

The Dell doesn't support proper HD (1080p). If you want a more future proof option one of the BenQ's are probably the better option.

That monitor looks interesting but there's no information / reviews / comparisons on it.
OCUK don't even stock it.

More info on it would be good.

Couple of things - the 360 does 1080p through VGA (and of course HDMI in the case of the Elite) and from what I read it even does it through component since a recent update. And the 2407 does do 1080p, although as said above, not through all inputs. I don't know all the details but from what I've read people have definitely been running 1080p through VGA on the 2407, and since the A04 update they've been able to get 1:1 mapping as well.

Of course you only get HDCP support through DVI so there could be problems down the line when copy protection is enabled on HD-DVD if you are using your 360 as a HD movie player. I've no idea whether there is 1080p support via DVI.

went with the Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP and im very impressed :D

cheers all for the input.
