24" TN monitor suggestions?

My BenQ XL2420T from 2013 developed a weird light by the center of the screen (Not sure if it can be fixed one way or another)

Hard to see a bit... https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GIm9YroWcAADZ8b?format=jpg&name=4096x4096

While i can live with it, when drawing it can be a bother

I was thinking it's time to upgrade the monitor to something newer and better, even if minimal. However the whole "Pick your poison" is still there

A decade ago i was recommended to get the 1st line's monitor and pretty happy, specially after some calibration to keep good colours without killing my eyes from saturation/contrast/whatever

Now i wanted to ask what'd be worth for my case scenario:

-New games with story (ALAN WAKE 2, RESIDENT EVIL, platformers, etc)
-Fast paced games like DOOM ETERNAL and maybe some competitive games
-Basic Adobe Photoshop and other Adobe products' colouring, nothing professional. Been doing, again, fine with my actual monitor

I'm aware that:

-TN's angles sucks (Even tho i look straight all the time) and colours aren't the best but the Hz matters etc
-IPS colours are great, minus some blacks, but the backlight bleed lottery and IPS glow kills the experience in dark rooms with dark games (Like, distracting), including when there's light in the room

What i mean about can be seen here between 19:13 and 22:40

-No way with VA due to smearing and NO WAY with OLED due to burn-in + price.

My thoughts would be another TN to begin with, with BenQ's XL2411K for 240€ (As long as it's better than mine, since they're pretty similar) or maybe XL2540K for 300€, although the latter's said to have coil whine at the monitor and that's a huge no (Unless BenQ fixed it and says wich manufacturing date should appear at the box)... Wich's a first time to hear about coil whine ON A MONITOR. Alternatively but not that nice is the XL2546X but that one's 500~€ around and going below 240hz is said to have horrible overshoot or blurryness (Who knows whenever you want to play a very old 90's game from GOG and the motion kills it)

I know many people would say "TN shouldn't be bought in 2024 anymore" yet there they are...But atleast some advice?

TN?

I had that old model, I fact I still have it, it still works but has been replaced, it was great for its time but TN in 2024?

Well, at least you could tell me what monitor do you have now, the why of it and if you had issues with any of it's "poison" (You know, each monitor panel has a different kind of poison...IPS with IPS glow and backlight bleeding, etc...)

Look mate, TN is pretty much dead tech now, OCUK only sell 7 TN panels, which gives you an idea what their popularity of future is.

So buy one of those or have a look at an alternative kind of panel. Very very few people on here will be using TN panels these days, most will be on OLED, or IPS. There's no perfect panel for everyone and all use cases.

From that list the issue with the K models (Minus the XL2411K?, although that one seems to have connectivity issues) is that they have coil whine, and then the 240hz 500€~ XL2546X model has overshoot/strobing when going below 240hz (In case a game cannot go over 60hz like GOG's old games)

OLED has VRR flicker (Not sure if it's something you can disable or comes by default and cannot be changed) and future burn-in, and IPS has the IPS glow and backlight bleed

I already looked at RTINGS but they throw some nonsenses sometimes... A superb monitor might have worse scored parts and that makes ya wonder "So what, then?"

I'm going to go against the grain here and side with @DV2FOX - I have struggled for some time to find a flat 24" monitor that doesn't have problems with ghosting and has good image quality. My Samsung 2233 monitor is getting on a bit now, but ghosting problems are seldom and the image is respectable, especially given it's age.

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread, but I half expect £lol monitors which are half as good as what I've good to be listed. :(

I had a SAMSUNG back then, pretty similar to that one you have, the SAMSUNG SyncMaster 226BW (Loved that grey, blue lighted up power button, but now i prefer nothing else bothering me at the front) but it wasn't that good on gaming (60hz)

I've been pretty much used to the colors of TN monitors with my actual BenQ above (after a lot of research for a proper calibration, then adjusting it myself) and it's sweet 120hz motion that i wouldn't mind another TN as long as it means no ghosting, etc on all Hz modes.. I'm no e-sports person but i prefer seeing things clearer, etc.

You can see my UFO test here at 120hz with some overshoot

My actual monitor settings are:

Modified FPS or sRGB mode(s)
Brightness ~50
Contrast 60/50/53/48
Sharpness 5
AMA Activated
Instant Mode Activated

Sure, an IPS might give better colours and it's great for dark/tory games and they've improved to match up with TN stuff for the better, but sometimes i've read something about a "red phosphorus" that could cause eye strain to people... But i don't know what kind of brightness etc those people have set up themselves.. And then the possibly distracting IPS glow/backlight bleed (See video above's timestamp to see what i mean. It shows both dark and lighted up environment tests)

OLED has the burn-in factor and then i've recently discovered about the VRR flicker, but i don't know if it's something you could just disable and make the monitor work like normal, as i wouldn't use it for consoles but photoshop and stuff i've mentioned above, or it's a "Sorry, deal with it" situation with every OLED monitor

You can indeed disable VRR if you come across the flicker. How about getting an IPS monitor for work/desktop and an OLED monitor for gaming. Yes, the IPS will likely have some glow but you could also get a TN panel with poor backlight bleed.
I recently used my old two DELL 144Hz Gsync TNs for old PC and work until recently where I have swapped one of them for an IPS panel. Almost comical how bad the TN colours look in comparison to the IPS but the contrast on the OLED TV nearby (LG 42") blows them away. Ultimately I think you are going to give it the eye test by checking them out for yourself :p

I own a LG C3 42" for a few TV programs but exclusively for my PS5/consoles, but i don't see myself working with my head turned like an owl or something while the body/hands are facing the monitor/Keyboard... "Space is a problem"

Sure i've played with my PC on the TV with a gamepad with HELLBLADE 2, but when it comes to work it's something else...I have my own distribution of things

I'm used to the "lil brightness across the screen" the TN has when the screen's all black, but then, as ya might've read above, some GOOD TN monitors like BenQ have strobing/overshoot issues when playing below 240hz (for very old games, etc), and i'm talking about this guy's vids who some users like me asked to do some tests (Sadly the user doesn't have the monitor anymore, no reason given)

And yes, i've seen a few IPS on shops exposed outta the box, but even then "one thing is the shop, the other is whenever it reaches home and have a different impact"
