240, 250, 260?

hi, i am looking for a possable upgrade from my x1950 to an Nvidia card, but dont want to spend more then £100 (yet really want the 260)

so would the 240 / 250 give me a good boost in load times on games like L4D2 and KF, or should i wait untill maybe next year for the 260's to go down in price?

am going NV because of 'demands' from games such as batman and GTA4

250GTS would give you a massive boost from the x1950 - tho adding a bit more RAM and making sure your HDD is running at a decent speed would prolly do more for boosting load times.

Personally tho I'd say you wanna put the extra together for the 260GTX if you want to play batman and it would be a much bigger boost for ~£100 than the 250GTS.

GTA4 is more CPU limited than anything else tho so don't expect miracles there... tho it will still run massively faster than it would on the x1950.

Get a 4870.
Batman runs fine on ATI cards.

If he wants to play batman in its "full" "glory" tho he'd have to use hacked drivers and buy atleast a 9600GT any how...

If he can't stretch to the gtx260 price he may as well get himself a 4870 which can be had for under £100 on this site. Forget the gts250 its much slower than a 4870 and will not be able to provide a great experience in batman with physx turned on. For £100 this card would be a good buy.

If its a gtx card you want though maybe look for a second hand gtx260.

i was thinking about more ram too but prices are high and im running on XP so can only buy upto 4GB of ram anyway

I am sure it is possible to get a GTX260 for 100 pounds these days... =/

Hd4870/90 or gtx260 ate your only choice if you ask me buy second hand if you have to as it will be worth it

Second hand 260 would be a good call

Look into adding more RAM but it's price atm
