Building myself a new 2400g rig. Went to power it up and nothing at all happened not even fan spinning. It’s an old psu I’m using, but everything else is new. Could my psu be bust?

I expected I might need boot kit but I assumed that it would just fail to post rather than absolutely nothing.

Reassure me I just need boot kit as I don’t have another psu to check with. I’ve done all the usual trouble shoots for this stage with no effect

Just built a 2400G rig last night. I never tried it with the APU first as I knew it wouldn't boot, but despite forgetting to plug the 8 pin CPU, it still turned on (just didn't POST). Judging from what others have experienced, it seems their system at least turned on. Loose/incomplete connections or a faulty PSU would be my guess.

Well, what PSU and how old is it?

And what motherboard you have?
Might need newer BIOS to support Ryzen APUs.

Thanks. Managed to get another psu to try which does get fans spinning etc so I think it was borked psu. Still need the bios update. Does mean I have an excuse to buy Pico psu now as I’ll need to be buying a new psu anyway

Judging by the other forums I frequent seems to be a regular issue with the 2200g and 2400g - 3-4 threads on it on each about half of them people saying they've already done the BIOS update with another Ryzen CPU first (or so they claim).
